i also got an rfe last jan 9,2009.they asked for completed I-693 form...so we went again to the civil surgeon and then they said i had to do the tb skin test and then they did also a blood test then thats it..they filled up all the part two and then part five...then i sent back my rfe reply last jan 22 and they got it last jan 24,then to day i got an email saying card production ordered...gudluck!

Hi, just for clarification's sake, since your timeline doesn't reflect this;

Did you mean that all this just occurred this month? (Jan 2009) or somehow did you mean January 2008?

Just a thought though, could it be the varicella/chickenpox vaccination series that's missing? It (or a positive antibody test) is a requirement for - I believe - pretty much everyone adjusting status. However, the jab is not available in Britain so you have to wait until you get here before you can get it done. It's two jabs, thirty days apart (so my Dr tells me)...

My wife informs me that she's already had chicken pox, and as such didn't need a vaccine. This is interesting though.

Call the information number given, explain the circumstances and ask to speak to an immigration officer (the people who answer the line are call center personnel and not immigration officers). It could be that they want the whole medical report with the vaccination part only filled out OR it could be that they have lost the medical and need to have it resent. There have been others in this situation who did not send in the medical because it had been submitted with the K-1 and their applications were denied. It was a challenge to re-open it, so do your best to find out if they have lost/misplaced or don't have your medical (in which case they did lose it even if they won't admit it) and if so, be prepared to submit the whole thing again. I doubt it is the TB issue or the booster shots issue otherwise those would have been itemized. What they have said is the whole 693 which really makes me think they have misplaced the original.

We definitely did send in this information, so. Quite honestly if they did misplace it that would be just fine, we just want to make sure that this sh*t gets on the road!

Thank you three specifically, you have all made us feel better about this situation.

its for this year jan,09,2009...

Okay we need some more assistance if any can be given,

I just called the idiot line given to us on the RFE, the 1-800-375-5283.

Someone previously said in this thread about asking for an immigration officer to get information about this case, yet there was no discernible option to do so via this phone number. All it was was a system of automated menus that told us exactly what we already know, and none of what we need to know

Call up the misinformation line again and choose the option to hear your case status. Enter the I-485 receipt number and listen to the very long speech, which will be exactly the same as on the case status website. It will then tell you that "this is the most up to date information available" and "no more information is available" in a blatant attempt to get you to hang up - don't!

Wait until eventually it asks you to press 3 (I think) to report a problem with your case. Press it, then choose the option for 'outside the published processing timeframe' and you'll be connected to a first-level script-reading customer service agent (don't bother waiting for a more appropriate 'problem' optioon, I know from personal experience that there isn't one for "I have no bloody idea how to answer this RFE"). Politely ask the script-reader who picks up the phone to speak to an immigration officer and they should put you right through. I've heard stories that the first time you ask, they can try and put you off but if they do, repeat your request and they will have to put you through to the second line without hassling you further. Be warned though, you can sometimes have to wait a while on hold at this point. However, when someone picks up, it should be a bona-fide immigration officer who should be able to tell you what they need. If they can't tell you what's required, I'm sorry, I have no idea who can  In that case, maybe you'd be better off sending a whole new medical report & vaccination supplement to cover every base?

I hope you get what you need! :)

Oh, and make sure you write down the ID number(s) of the people you speak to and the exact time you start talking to them - they can sometimes mumble their ID numbers but you may need a record of who you spoke to for future reference so make sure you get it :)

I hearby award you a bright, shiny internet for your helpfulness. Thank you!

At this point we're going to wait until tomorrow morning to do all that, as it's late in the day now and we don't want to potentially be put on hold for longer than the line is going to be open for. I mean, yes, we are in a rush to do this, but not so much of a rush that we can't wait a day and not be so stressed out. Today's not been a good day for a number of reasons (non-immigration related) and we'd rather approach it with a calmer state of mind tomorrow.

Many thanks for your help again, though! See, that's one of my biggest gripes with this whole process; USCIS' willingness to fob off people who are trying to do all this LEGALLY. I'm not an illegal sneaking under a border, and don't deserve to be treated as such. All I'm looking for here is information, after all; I'm not pestering them to speed up my case, or trying to get them to bend the rules just for me. I just want to be communicated with like a normal human being, you know?

Pah, I could sound off for the next hour about my irritations with this whole thing, so I'll quit whilst I'm ahead, I think. :P

Thanks for posting this information because I haven't seen much about RFEs for the medical. We are K1 and did not send an I-693 at all so kept thinking an RFE would come, but not yet. You are the first I've found who was K1 and transferred to CSC and already got EAD and AP. We are in your same shoes and I will be interested how yours works out, so we know what to do when it happens. I figured it would take awhile for this new I-693 for and TB skin test stuff to start showing up on the radar and behold it has.

Just another comment though... The new form and TB skin test were only supposed to apply to people with K1 medical exams after June 1. So they really shouldn't be RFEing you for that. Info here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

So you might want to print that page and the chart near the bottom since you are in compliance and ask the immigration dude about it when you get to speak to someone. That is, if he tells you that you need a TB test or more HPV. You can tell him about the medical date before the new rules. I think the HPV being a new immunization requirement should not have been required of you if you go by their grace periods they mention.

You're in the same situation as me. We sent off our AOS packet before I was a regular reader of VJ so had no idea that the vaccination supplement referred to in the AOS instructions was a different vaccination supplement to the one I have (after all, the AOS instructions don't reference any specific form numbers at any point ). At this point, I've been RFE'd for our Affidavit twice, had my EAD approved (but I don't have it in hand yet!) and subsequently transferred to CSC. I haven't yet been RFE'd for my vaccination supplement but as I said above, I wait for it each and every day. We'll see if it ever comes.... :)

So.

We called again, and held on in order to speak to a real person. They couldn't tell us any clearer reason, but said we needed to have the whole medical again. Our suspicion is that they lost the original at some point, but there wasn't a specific reason - "you didn't get x, you need to get that". So as irritating as it is, at least we got the most information it seems we're going to get.

The person we dealt with was actually really helpful, to the extent she could be. We made a note of her ID number too, in case we have any problems in the future.

Not the best result from our point of view, but at least a proper release of information, as much as they knew.
