International Marraige broker act really confuses me. I met my fiance through FilipinaHearts.com. Is this something I need to tell them when I file the I-129f ? Also my now ex wife accused me of Domestic Vilolence in 2000. The court found me "Not Guilty" Do I need to show evidence of this ? Any info you can pass along is appreciated. Thanks, Steve

An international marriage borker is a company that arranges meetings and marriages for a fee.

I met my wife through an online dating site, (which is NOT an IMB), the site only provided a way to communicate, nothing more.

As for the domestic violence record, yes you will need to provide a record, more than likely USCIS will just file it with the case due to NOT-Guilty being the result.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

No, filipinaHearts.com is not an International Marriage Broker. They are just an internet dating website.

A finding of "not guilty" is the opposite of a "conviction".

Download the I-129F and its instructions. Study them carefully and interpet literally. Then answer the questions on the I-129F with the same care and accuracy.

I met my Alla by obtaining her email address from Elena's Models online agency. I paid a fee to be able to obtain her email address (and for her to have mine).

Would they be considered an IMB?

Tnx in advance, Phil

I checked it out and would say it's borderline. I've seen no evidence it makes any difference to a case when you check yes or check no on the IMB question but I think I'd check yes on this one.

this is what we did based on IMBRA -it says that even with the absence of an agent (person/representative) but if one or both are paying members in dating sites(filheart,ae,etc)- it is already covered under imbra. btw,we met at ae and he was a paying member while iam not.We read carefully about the imbra guidelines and in the end we were convinced that its best to check YES and added further explanation. Indeed, we met there but right on the first day we met,we exchanged personal email addresses, started communicating through this and never been back to ae eversince. Our decision was further supported by one couple we came across here who had similar case (ae -yes-explanation) and was approved without rfe. Inshallah we will be ok too. (we just filed last month so were currently in the waiting period for noa2)

As to your case, not guilty so that should be good.

I am intending to check Yes. I have no qualms about it and from everyone's experience, there is no penalty for checking Yes if there is a question to application or not. Tnx everyone, Phil
