Dear forumites,

share your insights with a poor soul here. We have filed to remove conditions (I -751) on Oct. 22, 2007. In September, 2008, we received a lovely RFE with no coherent instructions on what they would like to see from us. Since we have no common debt, no children and no property, we mailed them a boxful of photos and our international itineraries. This apparently sufficed and they approved our application on November, 3, 2008. The letter of approval claims that the card should be rendered within 60 days. Well, naturally (what with my luck) I received no green card within the indicated time frame. So I called their customer service line on January 12, 2009. A dude on the other end said that he'll file an internal request and "somebody should get back [to me] within 45 days in response to [my] inquiry". FORTY FIVE days!

This is background. Now my questions:

1) How long do you suppose I'll have to wait? I do have international travel coming up. And frankly, I am rather sick of this immigration process (this ###### lasted for nearly five years).

2) Do people have any (*assuaging*) analogous stories?

Thanks!

1) Schedule and Info-Pass appointment and get an I-551 stamp in your passport, this will allow re-entry from a trip abroad.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I agree with YuandDan Make an infopass appointment, They might be able to see what going on with your green card along with getting your passport stamped. In May we will be moving in to our seventh year of this, one thing I have come to realize is that the USCIS will do pretty much what it wants to do, in it own time and we are the sole passengers.

Wow ramc, someone else who has been in this as long as we have!! We started our K-1 journey in June, 2003 and you started yours July, 2003. I wonder if it is a coincidence that we are both at the Atlanta USCIS office? Good luck to you for an approval soon!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
