hello all!

Has anyone ever signed on to the USCIS website and checked their case status? I signed in today just because i was curious and it says they mailed something out to us on friday requesting for more evidence ahhHH!!!! :( i guess i should just wait for the letter and see what i have to do now.

How frustrating! Be sure to notify your Lawyer that a letter is in the mail. The problem with Lawyers is that it takes time for information to filter down to their clients (speaking w/K-1 Lawyer experience). :bonk:

UGH i know its so annoying! Has this ever happened to you Ken? If my lawyer sent all the paper work she says we needed why would they need something else, i know i shouldn't be getting frustrated with her but it is her job to know everyting isnt it? this is why we are paying her so we didnt have problems like this! :wow: sorry i am a little stressed!lol i needed to vent!

They kinda "shelf" your petition until they receive the info they need. I would just respond as quickly as possible and they will resume and should notify you in some fashion, website etc... that they have resumed work on your petition. The RFE could be for anything, it does not necessarily have anything to do with evidence you sent. The only plus about having an RFE means you know they were at least working on your file :) Hopefully they will resume quickly after they receive your response.

thank you! i soon as i hear something i will get it done asap so we can get back on track! thanks so much for all your help!

I had been waiting for an interview appointment form my CR1 case in Bogota. Is already two weeks but nothing yet. does anybody knows if they are problems at the embassy in bogota?? or how long it takes usually?

Since you filed for a CR1/IR1 visa, you have to wait for the NVC to complete your case. They complete it as soon as they're done reviewing all paperwork for the I-864 and the DS-230. If they complete your case before the 15th of the month, you will most likely get an interview scheduled for next month, if not, then they'll schedule your interview for the following month. So for ex., if they complete your case before the 14th of this month (since the 15th falls on a Saturday), they will probably schedule your interview for June. If they complete your case after the 14th, then you will probably get an interview scheduled for July.

Hi to all and congratulations to all!

Update:

I called Banco Helm in Bogota and after talking to two people one lady who understood that w still need DS-156 for K1 visa. So if you call them ask to speak to someone who works in Visas de Americas. I asked her to call the Banco Helm in my fiance city and explain to them that she needs it and that sheis coming today. I gave them her full name.

(They only speak spanish, but assuming everyone who's fiancee lives in Colombia speaks spanish also)

It worked, so when she went to the bank she didn't have any problems. But they told her that she can't pay for the visa until she has packet 4. The appointment letter.

I know they thought I was being a hardball but to me, if the documents still says fill out DS-156. I felt like that is what we should fill out even if the rules has changed. at least until they update the forms .

I paid only with the case number, I didn't want to wait for the letter, I received the appointment letter 1 week before the interview. Other people has made it this way too. The bank only need the case number, they have to send an email to the embassy to confirm the interview date. Maybe she can try to pay with the case number or even try with the letter of the package 3, the case number appears also.

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Hi,

Thanks for the info. DOS said they mailed packet 4 on 23 of April. They told her they need to see the appointment letter. They would not let her pay today.Yesterday when she went to the bank they told her they are not accepting DS-156 anymore. She is so frustrated and that has me frustrated. Packet three arrived to her home almost two weeks later after they mailed it. Banco Helm in Manizales has been a pain in the butt. I will call the embassy tomorrow and tell them the problems I am having down there and what can we do.

I will call the Bank tomorrow and see if they can accept it with just the case number. But knowing them they will just have another reason they can't do it.

I'm not sure if CR1 visas are different from K-1 when scheduling interviews, but we faxed our Pak 3 on 4/12 and didn't get an interview until 6/17.

Maybe the month of May was booked up before 4/15 and that is the reason we didn't receive an interview date in May. No worries...it gives me more time to get the house "fiancee-ready".

Hello Colombia club!

I was just reading a couple post back and I saw one talking about the DAS certificate. Juan Esteban also has one he had to get for his employer so that one will not work? He would have to get one specifically for immigration purposes? Thank you for all your help! I would be lost without you guys!

It sounds like everything is just a complete mess with this bank trying to do everything by the book. Well... with the US embassy in Bogotá and the Colombian mail system being so unreliable, doing things by the book doesn't apply. As of a few months ago, the embassy was telling people that all they needed at the bank, the lab and the doctor was their case number since many didn't receive their packet 4 on time. This was accepted all across the board, but now with this new bank, employees are not aware of this issue.

Keep trying.

The process is pretty much the same except that for CR/IR visas the NVC schedules the appointment with the embassy, for K visas, it is the embassy itself who schedules them. The deadline dates are not a sure thing since it's up to the embassy to decide depending on how booked they already are but it gives people an idea of when they might get their appointment date.

Thank you so much Diana you are always so helpful! He sent the DAS certificate to our lawyer the one he got for his employer and she said it was fine. But i will tell him to go get a different one just in case that one doesn't work. Thanks so much!
