Hi all...

Been a while since I last posted. We are getting close to the date for "removal of conditions". Is there a current forum that everyone is using or will use? I can't seem to locate the AOS forum that was specifically for Colombia. Pending that information, I'll go ahead and ask a question here.

Everything I read here and at USCIS says NOT to mail the packet for removal of conditions before the 90 day window opens. My wife has a friend who says she and her husband sent the papers in a week before the 90 day window and it was accepted. Lorena wants to do the same with ours (the 90 days begins June 8 and she wants to send the packet on June 1).

Anyone know if this will really be an issue? Was her friend just lucky? Any advice will be appreciated.

Charles

If the visa is approved...How long does it take before you can pick it up at the Domesa office in Bogota. I think the timeframes given are for delivery service and not Pick up at the office timeframes..Did anyone do it this way? I intend to Pick it up...

Thank You

hi Drew, If you decide to pick it up you can do it 2 days later, but first you have to call them it to check that already they have it (they do not call to notify). In the other forum several couples have received the passport 2 or 3 days later in their offices

Hello Charles, it's nice to see you again.

Well, I'm thinking the USCIS received her friend's application right on the day the 90 days begin. If they receive it before that date, they will return the package and you'd have to send it again. There's really no rush in filing a few days before the 90 day window since it takes them about 3 months to approve it if you file at the CSC and almost 4-6 months at the VSC. I compared timelines with another VJ member who filed a week after we did and she had hers approved 3 weeks before ours was. So a few days really don't matter.

We used the guide here on VJ, it's pretty easy to follow and the process itself is painless.

Good luck!

June 17th- good deal Mark! I am hoping for around a July 4th POE with Valeria, too. She has until July 13th to get here, before the visa expires. Hell, I filed on November 11th 2008, so it's been a long ride... I am off to Pereira tomorrow (Saturday) for a week to see her. I hope all is well with Colombia Club people...

Joe

Joe,

July 3 should be Carol's POE...fingers crossed. Your journey has been long and trying, but it will be all worth it when Valeria arrivwes at the POE!!!

Have a great time in Pereira!!

Mark,

Congrats......Finally you have a date...Jet Blue has great rates from Orlando to Bogota..Orlando will be Maria's POE hopefully on May 22nd. That's my goal as of today...4 hour layover then on to New Jersey..

Drew,

Yes, finally. I am flying into Cali a few days before we leave for Bogota. We are flying Aires Airlines from Cali to Bogota and back.

When Carol flies to the US, she will take Aires to Bogota and JetBlue to Orlando. Aires flies to Ft. Lauderdale, but I don't want to drive that far.

Usually, not always, visas are ready for pick up or delivered within Bogotá in 2-3 business days. You can schedule your flight based on this estimate but remember that it's not guaranteed.

Thanks Troy and Diana. One of Lorena's friends said they got confirmation that the package was received within a week of sending it. Personally, I doubt that it went that fast but now Lorena's expectations of prompt movement are very high (unrealistically so I'm afraid). Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Bertha, he will need the police certificate ("Pasado Judicial" in Spanish) and the migratory record also, both documents he can get it in any DAS office.
