Good question... Has anyone completed the process without the appointment letter ? I have an interview in 4 weeks and we have not recieved the pak 4 Yet with the appointment letter.

I found the following in the Packet 4 instructions:

Bring your interview letter to your appointment (if available).

If you learned your appointment date from our website (http://bogota.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html) but do not have your interview letter, you should come to the Consular Section waiting room on the day of your scheduled appointment. You will be allowed to enter only on your scheduled appointment date.

Looks like you can attend the interview even if you don't have the appointment letter. The embassy probably realizes that the Colombian mail system is not reliable, so they don't demand the letter.

I have a queston.

The visa fee that will be paid at Banco Helm is that for the K1 visa only? My fiance has a son who would be receiving the K2 visa. But I don't see anywhere about a separate fee for that. Would I only be paying for his medical exam?

I think Banco Helm will require the $131 for the K-2 Visa as well. Expect to pay for Vaccinations for your K-2, too.

Thanks for the answer.. Maria called me today at work and said she recieved Pak # 3.... 2 weeks after they sent it just as your came except she is only 20 minutes from the Embassy .It's not like she lives in Cali or someplace far.. The mail system really does suck.

Scroll back here several pages and you will find the link for the form in Spanish.. I suggest you read the past 2-3 weeks because everything you are asking was answered already..You need to do some work and read the past postings by other members.

After reading everybody's answers here I would pay in her own city .. You never know when the fee will increase .. I paid mine 2 days ago.In Bogota.

Definitely pay your Visa fees ASAP so that you won't get caught having to possibly pay the $350 twice. My wife paid for her Visa Fees in Barranquilla back in September.

Alright we arrived in the US on Apr.10th and everything went real smooth.

We went to the local Social Security Office to apply for an SSN for Cristian but they told us to wait until he gets his Green Card first.

How long does that normally take? We've been here for almost 1 week already and it hasn't arrived yet.

We love you guys and thanks again for everything!

Hello there and welcome home!

The USCIS has to enter his POE information in the system and that can take anywhere from 2-7 weeks. The SSA cannot issue him a SSN until the USCIS is done entering his info. So give it about another 2 weeks to see if his green card arrives in the mail, if not, call the USCIS to find out where they are in the process. If they say all his info is in the mail, then you can now go to the SSA office to get his SSN. If not, gotta keep waiting but it doesn't take that long.

In the case of my original K-1 Visa, it took approximately 1 week to receive my NOA1 from the Lawyer's Office, but when the NOA2 arrived, it took almost a month to receive that form in the mail. We won't go into Packet 3 and the drama that followed...

The story is a crazy one. I appreciate the help I received here on Colombia Club II starting roughly 1 year ago so that I could learn this process on my own.

Great pic like Diana states though I guess ya gotta just wait, when the boys came on their CR2's we went like 2 days after they arrived and applied with the visa in the passport and they both got the card within 2 weeks. I guess it is differnt if you checked the box on the DS-230. SInce they were minors they card would never have come as I read that here before. SO wait for the GC , ours took 1 month ( in 2008 ) and then go back in. What a pain but well worth it for sure . cause at least he is here
