With interview date in hand you can just go down and pay your $131 now, can you not? I can see them saying no, go back and pay another $219 on day of interview....... I wouldn't wait the 5 weeks...

Good question...I wasn't aware that you could pay that far in advance. Don't you have to pay in Bogota and need to take the completed DS-156 form to the bank? Carol lives in Cali, which is a 10 hr. bus ride to Bogota.

Some reasons are: previous marriage by the Colombian person, maybe a tourist visa revoked, many trips outside Colombia- things like that can set off a red flag! Most people don't get AP, but it can be a short wait or in my case, it was 8 1/2 months, which sucked big time!

hello all! I recently got married to my girlfriend here in Bogota, Colombia and we are looking at going through the DCF route. I have been in Colombia since January 17th with my wife, and will soon be getting my temporal conyugue visa and shortly after that, my cedula de extranjeria. Have any of you gone through DCF? What were your experiences like? I still have "domicile" in the US and I have all evidence necessary to prove that, but I have not been here for six months so I have not started the process yet...just wondering other people's experiences with DCF in Colombia. Thanks!

Que pasa? I am still hangin' in there! Valeria is still planning on coming the end of June. Her son is in school in Colombia until like June 18th or so. Her visa is good until July 13th, so that is the drop-dead arrival date. I am actually going to visit her April 25th for a week. Man, it has been a long wait...

I cannot find the DS-156 printable version with the barcode like I see it in spanish after clicking on th link provided by another poster. Now there is a DS-160. Pak 4 was ent out last week and she never recieved it. I am getting stressed out with all this . I need to concentrate on my job or I wont have one.....Is there a link for the English version ??

Getting close to just forgetting this whole thing....That would suck after all the way we came already.

She is helpless and can't do anything down there. She did not even get a passport yet...The interview is in 5 weeks.

Are you sure you can pay for the visa 5 weeks ahead of time? First I need the DS-156 link. The one that is in pink where you can request 2 copies of it but in English. I already have the Spanish one thanks.

Hello apeters, congratulations on your wedding by the way.

Unfortunately, no many VJ members have filed through DCF in Bogotá, I've only heard of one but I hear the process is pretty painless since you file everything with the embassy.

You can find all forms in the DOS site which is listed in the US Embassy in Bogota web site. It doesn't matter if the forms are in English or Spanish, she just needs to fill them out and take them to the bank to pay for the visa.

As per package 3 found in the US embassy website:

In order to prepare for your interview, please follow the attached instructions.

FIRST: Fill-out the visa applications, which are available online at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html:

Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-156)

- Complete two (2) copies per applicant (including your children)

Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application (DS-156K) (K1/Fiancé(e) Visa Applicants Only)

- Complete (1) copy per family. We do not require this form for spouses of American citizens or their children.

Application Instructions

After completing the form online, be sure to click “Continue” at the bottom of the page to print the application, including the barcode on page 3. We cannot process your case if the barcode page is not included.

Not all U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad will be required to use the form at the same time. If it's not in your Packet 4, then I wouldn't worry about it. They will probably implement the change to DS-160 at a later date.

Thanks this was the link I was looking for.. But I still would like to know how far in advance we can pay the visa fee and do the medical. Some say within 30 days others say within 3 days. Which answer is correct? I also hear that some do not get packet 4

And they are able to get a medical with the BGT# and appointment date.. We never recieved packet #3 but downloaded it as you suggested to me when we talked last week and that worked fine. They said yesterday packet 4 was sent out on 3-31-10. But I am not holding my breath on that comming to her.She is nervous and needs my help with everything. I do not mind as long as I know what to do.
