Vermont was processing fast last summer (NOA2 in 2 months), but slowed down in Nov. Don't we have to wait until we schedule an interview before getting the vaccinations? I already told her to request the police report and certificado de

migratorio. I know that everything moves fast from now on.

Thanks for the advice Ken.

Mark

we got our vaccines right away before appointment was scheduled but i sent in forms Forms DS-2100 and DS-230 Part I and (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration – Biographic Data) right away before we had everything done. you should send now so you can get an appointment for beginning of may

you don't need to wait until have scheduled the interview, it is good moment to start with the vaccines, thus does not have to pay them to the authorized doctors by the embassy because with them they are too expensive

Mark -- Be sure you follow the Colombia Consulate guide info:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Start calling NVC everyday about 2 days after your I-129F has been approved at: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5. You will need to reach a live person to get information on your case since the NVC’s automated system does not handle K1 visas.

Give this person your I-797 NOA1 receipt #, they will let you know if your package has been received. Once NVC receives your case, they will assign a new case # that will begin with BGTXXXXXXXXXX. Make sure you get the new case # and write it down.

When you estimate that your package has arrived at the embassy call DOS at 202-663-1225 x1, x0 to confirm. You will need your new BGT case number. (See Step 2)

5. After confirming that the embassy has your package follow these steps. You do NOT need to wait until you receive package 3.

A. Prepare your package 3 response. It should include the following items only.

1. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)

2. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2 only)

B. Fax your response to Package 3 to the embassy at 011-57-1-(315-4155.

6. After receiving your Package 3 response the embassy will schedule your interview. To discover your interview date call DOS at (202) 663-1225 x1, x0.

Let us know how it goes. Get on top of getting that BGT number and have your Significant Other Carol gathering all of her documents. She should receive the Packet 3 package in the next 2 weeks. Once you get your Packet 3 in to the Embassy, she will get her Packet 4 info, and your BGT number will be posted on the list of upcoming Consular interviews:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/iv-appointments.html

Try and get this together within the next week so that you can be on that May interview list. The interviews are stacking up due to tourist visa interviews, work visas, so you have to work fast to get on that list. Good luck, amigo.

Hey Mark,

Congrats on your approval!! The main thing is getting the interview scheduled, send in those forms as quickly as possible. Maybe things have changed with the vaccines, but Alexandra got her vaccines in Cali but when she went to Dr. Roa he made her do some of them again because they were over 30 days. Not only did I pay twice for vaccines but Alex had to get vaccines twice, which for health reasons is not necessarily a good thing. Good Luck with the rest of the process senor!

Hey amigos, thanks for all of the advice!! I'll call NVC tonight and hopefully get our new case number. I have most of the DS-23- form completed and told Carol to contact DAS. I found a save enabled DS-230 form, so I can complete the info and email to Carol. I think that I will wait until I know the interview date before getting the vaccines. I don't want to pay twice for vaccines like Troy had to for Alexandra.

Thanks again for all the advice...I'll keep everyone up to date.

B. Fax your response to Package 3 to the embassy at 011-57-1-(315-4155.

-Ken

I would recommend that the package is emailed, it is safer and furthermore you'll get an acknowledgment from the embassy. If you fax, the line can be busy a long time or the call falls during the transmission.

another thing, you can track the package on DHL website to know when is received by the embassy.

Harold,

I'm worried about you getting the approval soon enough with your K-1 visa being utilized. Sandra will be fine. Please let her know that she will be alright - you too.

http://www.webmd.com/lung/understanding-tuberculosis-basics

Only 10% of people infected with TB will ever have the active disease. The remaining 90% have what's called latent TB infection -- they show no signs of infection and won't be able to spread the disease to others. Medication can help get rid of the inactive bacteria before they become active.

I called the NVC tonight...they received our package and sent it to the embassy today. :wow: That was fast...I'm not used to things moving this fast. I will complete the DS-230 and send to Carol. I already sent her the US Embassy website

(spanish version) for her to look over the instructions. Moving right along and on schedule.

Harold,

We're sorry to hear the bad news and hope you and Sandra will be okay. I read Ken's link and am pretty sure she'll get over it, and although this might (and probably will) delay her trip, your visa is still approved and that won't change. I say just focus on getting her better, which is what's important now, and then she'll get her passport with the visa and will be able to go live with you forever!

Best of luck to you and Sandra!!

And best of luck to Mark and Carol too! hopefully you will have your interview and the visa soon!

A little bit of news from us:

We got Cristian's passport with the visa and the envelope today (3 days after the interview) and are going to buy his ticket sometime during the day. Woo-hoo!! We're so excited!! :star:

To be completely honest, I think these doctors randomly pick the person they ask to get the vaccines again. There are many people who get them weeks in advance or just bring their vaccine records of the shots they got as children and they're ok'd by the doctor. Then there's others who are asked to get them again even if they got them days prior to the appointment. So, who knows. But as long as they approve and clear everything before the interview, all's good I guess.
