Joe,

You are so right that Colombian doctors are not governed by the same rules as we are. Everytime I visit Colombia I am amazed that there are few rules and the laws are seldom enforced. We are so regimented in the US in our every day life. It's great that we can make changes to our laws...unless you're dealing with a government agency (i.e. USCIS). LOL

Keep us posted on your progress.

Just wanted to pass on the latest info: Valeria was in Bogota last week to try and get the visa re-issued. She went to the embassy on Thur. to pick up her packet, that they were holding. By the time she got it that morning, it was too late to get the labs- they are only open from 7 am until 10 am each day. So, when she went to the doctor's office (Gonzales) they wouldn't do the medical- need labs first. So, she went back to get lab work on Friday morning, then doctor on Friday late afternoon- they made her do about 6 shots again, of course. She had to wait over the weekend in Bogota until this morning to go take the results back to the embassy. We thought they would make her pay for Domesa and then probably wait a few weeks for them to re-issue it and it send out. But, she got lucky and they gave her the visa package after a short wait. So, she now has a "valid" visa that is good until July- unless, of course, there is an act of war, act of God, or maybe the dog will eat the package

Maybe this is the place to post my question, wife is a natural born citizen of Colombia and was married there. But moved to Venezuela at he ripe old age of 18 because neither she or her ex could find work in Colombia. Her ex moved back to Colombia, let's say he was a wife beater and child abuser, so her divorce took place in Venezuela after a six year absence.

Her attorney that handled her divorce also left Venezuela, have no idea why, Venezuela is a cool place to live and can watch Chavez talk on every cable channel each and every night. But we are hearing that her Venezuelan divorce should be registered in Colombia. In contacting some crooked Colombian attorneys, told that Colombia doesn't even recognize a Venezuelan divorce, others say it just has to be registered.

Impossible to find this stuff on the web. Does anyone here know for sure? All of her family is in Colombia. It's very well possible her divorce was registered in Colombia, but we have no way of finding out.

Diana,

Exactly! It is crazy, but if they tell you that you have to do it, they hold all the power. I am still wondering if indeed she were to have never opened the sealed packet in the first place, if U.S. Immigration could have turned her away at POE when she came, because technically the medical was expired inside that sealed envelope? Mind boggling, huh! I gotta a million questions, that'll never get answered!!!!

When your Beneficiary arrives to their Point of Entry (POE), they will be instructed to be married within 90 days, and have their paperwork sent in within that time. Last week, our paperwork arrived on the 90th day via US Postal Service priority mail - roughly $5 in a Priority packet from the Los Angeles area. I wouldn't waste my money on more expensive shipping.

So, how did we celebrate the conclusion to our K-1 Visa and step into AOS-land??? By some quality time in the dirt, camping and climbing. Yea!
