Hey Mark,

I'm guessing that is going to have to happen. They embassy has all her documents right now, so we have to figure out how to get all that stuff back into her hands. She called the doctor's office today (Gonzales) and they need her passport and an "appointment" letter, and who knows what other paperwork, to do it again. I'm sure that won't go off without a hitch of some sort. This whole thing is like a bad movie- you must read half the ###### I post and just shake your head....

Joe

Joe,

OMG...the saga continues. You must have an enormous amount of patience. If I were you, the guys in the white coats would be coming after me. LOL

When your fiancee arrives, you should party for a week!! Anyway, I hope she has no problems and you can put all of this behind you and chill until June.

Good luck.

Mark

Diffenitley need to party when all done. Sounds like just trying to squeeze every penny they can get. Today we schedule labatory and medical and they say she needs all the vaccines she just got a week ago because of her age. They say is booster. Thet just keep wanting money from everyone.

That is why I am not going to have Carol do anything until we schedule for lab and medical. These Colombian doctors see dollar signs when they know an American is involved.

Good luck with your interview.

Thanks much, Mark.

The embassy called her today (I'm guessing because of my several emails to them in the last few days to get off the dime). They told her to come to the embassy next Thursday and pick up her visa and passport and then go again to get the medical done (Dr. Gonzales). They also apparently called the doctor's office to get her into the medical appointment that same Thur. afternoon. I forgot to ask her if she has to go do the lab work, also- not sure. Also, not sure if she has to get new DAS-, too. One person at embassy had emailed me earlier that DAS only needs to be valid at time of visa issuance, and it doesn't need to be valid (validity is same as medical- 1 year) to get into U.S. But, whoever called her to come next week, said to bring new DAS, so go figure...

Yep- it has been thousands of dollars for me, when all being said and done (well, not really done yet). But, what can you do? They have the power to say and do just about anything- it's like they are not governed by rules at all. Unbelievable.....

Joe,

You are so right that Colombian doctors are not governed by the same rules as we are. Everytime I visit Colombia I am amazed that there are few rules and the laws are seldom enforced. We are so regimented in the US in our every day life. It's great that we can make changes to our laws...unless you're dealing with a government agency (i.e. USCIS). LOL

Keep us posted on your progress.

Joe,

You are so right that Colombian doctors are not governed by the same rules as we are.

Don't forget that Colombia's health system ranks higher on the list released by the World Health Organization than America's!

http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

http://www.photius.com/rankings/world_heal...ance_ranks.html

In general, we have decent doctors here. Of course there are some bad apples that ruin it for everybody else, but most of them aren't like that.

None of the above means that I don't despise the doctors in charge of the examinations just as much as any of you do, lol. :hehe:
