Wohoo! We got our interview letter for March 16th!!We're so excited that this process is finally over! We haven't had a single problem so far, not even an RFE or anything. When we got worried about the NVC taking so long to complete our case we didn't know but it had already been completed on Jan. 12th... so everything has gone smoothly for us. Hopefully the interview will go that way aswell, with no administrative process or anything.

Now we have to deal with the medical exams, etc.

What's the next step though? Don't we have to mail some package to the embassy or something? The appointment letter didn't say anything about this.

Also, we had asked before but didn't get an answer... is the HPV vaccine only for women? In that case we won't have to worry about it.

As Diana stated, the HPV vaccine is for women ages 9-26. It is a cervical cancer vaccine, so unless you have a cervix then I would say no. B-)

Good luck with your interview!

Hola hermanos-hermanas Colombianos,

Diana,

thank you for the feedback, we are really in need of help....

I had originally petitioned for him on the K1 visa app. At that time the father would not allow him to come to the US but has now changed his mind.

Bianca has already gone to the K1 interview but without her son. We called the embassy to notify them and they sent packet 3 of 4 ....cant remember....but in order for the child to attend the interview he needs some type of form signed by the father the gives him the OK to come to the US.

This is the form we are trying to seek. Also, we are now married so not sure how this changes things.

Dazed and confused :(

Ok I see now, he's going for a K2. Well, he has 1 year to go to the interview after your wife's interview which I'm assuming is still good given the fact that the embassy sent him the appointment packets. Now, the embassy does not need to see his father's signed permission slip for his interview unless they specifically ask for it. Call the embassy to make sure if they want to see it or not. He will need it however the day he leaves Colombia because the DAS will ask for it before he boards the plane, it has to be recent and notarized. If he doesn't have it, or is not recent, they will not let him fly out of the country. He and his father can go to any notary to get this document signed and notarized. Keep in mind that he will need to do this every time he leaves Colombia until he turns 18, so if you guys plan a trip there to visit family, make sure you talk to the father first before flying out because if he refuses to sign another permission slip, your wife's son will have to stay in Colombia until 1. the father lets him or 2. turns 18.

As for the AOS, he still needs to file on his own and since he's 15 years old he will need to pay the regular AOS fee of $1,010. Only children 14 and under pay less for this process.

Hope that helped.

I need some info if someone knows:

In my case, as you may know, my fiancee received the visa package by Domesa and opened the sealed envelope meant to be given to U.S. Immigration at POE. So, she returned the entire package back to the embassy by Domesa and it arrived today. It needs to be "resealed" for Immigration officials in U.S. She just got a call today by someone from embassy saying she may have to re-do the medical examine??? The visa is valid until July- why would she have to maybe re-do the medical? It was done last April and is valid for one year. Once a visa is issued we would just have to revisit medical in the U.S. during AOS, right? I am confused....

1/14/2010 - VISA APPROVED at the second interview- took about 8 1/2 months of AP

1/21/2010 - Visa delivered by courier- BUT, she opened sealed envelope that was for U.S. Immigration at POE.

Now embassy in Bogota wants us to do the medicals all over again.... nightmare continues.....

2/22/2010 - She went back to Bogota to get labs and medical re-done. Then back to embassy where they finally

re-issued the visa. Is valid until July 13th

7/3/2010 - She made it to the U.S. finally!!! I filed on November 11th 2008 and went thru 8 1/2 months of AP

Have your wife read this as it may help with the letter and or permission needed. When I send the boys to visit family we have this done in New York and then get it notorized in Bogota. Hope this helps :)

Joe,

She does not need another medical exam because the one she had done is good for one full year, that's why she won't need a new one here in the US for AOS unless the USCIS misplaces it. Argue this issue with the embassy if they keep telling you that she needs to have another one done.
