Here I found 3 different official websites that tell you that the HPV and Zoster vaccines are no longer required.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1331.html

http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/...immigration.pdf

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

What I plan to do is print these and take them to my medical exam and show them to the doctor, if he still tells me to get them I won't. I'll show up at the interview with these 2 vaccines missing and since the U.S immigration laws don't require for you to have them anymore, I'm sure it'll be ok.

Or do you have to show the doctor that you got all the vaccines that he recommended in order for him to 'pass' you? That'd be nonsense. Either way I won't get these vaccines, because the U.S immigration law says I don't have to.

Regarding the vaccines...I can't remember specific vaccines but I know Alexandra had her's done in Cali....but when she went to Bogota the CS made her repeat some of them, because they were like 35 days old. She did have the HPV and it was the most expensive of all...be aware the CS has the last word. I sometimes think if you can bring existing shot records to Bogota and let them tell you what they need to approve you, it may be the best course. Also, if they require the HPV, whatever CS you go to here more than likely will insist she finish the series whether it is shot 2 or 3 and they are wicked expensive here.

hey carl i was wondering if you had any good news yet with your case? how are you both hanging in there?

do you or anyone know where you can get the HPV vaccine done in barranquilla? sandra is getting all her vaccines and the nurse told her that they do not have this one and will have to look else where for it? i think it would be cheaper to do in barranquilla than bogota

Hi,

Thanks for asking ,

Well still waiting for lawyer to get answers. As far as Jess and I we are stilled in shock after 2 weeks. Its hard to think of what are plan B will be if we dont get second interview ..I think the HPV vaccine was 200,000 for the frist one in Bogota at medical appointment. We went to the Red cross and got some done there .They were a little cheaper.. I dont have the vaccine record in front of me Jess has it in Bogota/. I do remember the doctor asking her if she had Varacellia as a child she did. Doctor said something about it. Then said she needed it now or she cant wrtie off for the interview. So the day of the medical exam she got 2 vaccines Hpv and Varacellia

Hope that helps you a little

That's exactly what I would do, print out those forms to show them that the HPV vaccine is no longer required. However, the doctor has the last word and since he/she will be losing $200-$300K pesos, they will probably force you to get it done or they won't sign off on your medical. That's just how it is, there's only two doctors and they both force you to get shots that you don't need. Dr. Roa for example told my husband his vaccines were too old even though he got them 4 months before his medical and told him that he needed to get all of them again that same day at his office ONLY. Now, when have you heard that a vaccine is too old?? Come on, it's obvious they want to get as much money out of you and the sad truth is, you will have no choice.

Damn. What if I just show up at the interview without that crooked doctor's approval and just tell the CO about it. Maybe then the embassy will contact them and force them to do things right?

I'm really sick of dealing with corrupted idiots who'll sell their souls to get their hands on some easy cash. It's disgusting and I'm willing to do anything it takes to beat them.

Although if it comes down to it and I'm forced to get the stupid vaccines, I guess I'll have to do it but dammit I'll probably write an article about it for El Tiempo if only to get it off my chest.

I say fight it when you go get your medical and then give in if they insist on it. Problem is, you will need to get your medical done to get your visa. And yes, I would love to see those doctors being put in their place since they're always trying to take advantage of these type of situations.

Isn't there an age limit on the HPV vaccines?

Also, on the US Embassy website, HPV and Zoster are still listed as required vaccines in the Visa K Appointment Package. The US Embassy must be a little tardy in updating their website.

Hi guys,

Yesterday I had my second interview. My husband did not come with me this time. I had the same CO as the first time. He asked me the same questions as before, mainly about my husband, what he does for a living, etc. On both interviews he didn't ask to see any evidence, no pay stubs, pictures, nothing. He told me to pay Domesa and that I would receive my passports in two weeks because they are still waiting on a paper for my Asylum.

I don't understand why they are still waiting on a paper for my Asylum and still call me and tell me AP is over. Hopefully in two weeks or less I will have my passport.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I'll let you guys know when I receive my passport.

Great, Carol turned 27 in Dec. so I saved myself a bunch of money. I agree with you about the Embassy, I found an outdated DS-230 form on their website.

Do the doctors in Bogota speak and read english? Just wondering if they could read the articles from CDC and USCIS.

Thanks Diana, I knew you would know the answer...you are a wealth of knowledge!!

Yes as Diana stated there are age restrictions...The most disturbing thing about the HPV is it seems the DR.'s there and here interpret the rules as they see fit, not only when filing for the visa but when filing for AOS as well. Alexandra started the series at 26 years old...when she arrived here she was 27. Dr. Arnold (Texas) transcribed the first vaccination report and because she didn't finish the series just marked it not necessary for age reasons. Then we received an RFE because they lost the medical portion and had to have all of the medical done again here with a local CS. He required her to finish the series or he wouldn't sign off on it. Contacted the local health department and they said she couldn't have it because she is 27 and it doesn't matter when she started it, and on top of that no one, with the exception of the local CS, would administer the 3rd injection in the series because they didn't actually give her the first 2.

I truly hope that they accept the the printed, highlighted copy of the new rules...Mark feel fortunate Carol is 27 that shouldn't be an issue!

Sandra,

It looks like it will probably end of June, as she has a son in school until then. The visa is valid until July 13th, so she has to get here by then. In the meantime, she is stilltrying to get Domesa to take the package back to the embassy- she had to write the courier a letter of sorts and is waiting to get their response- not sure what is going on, but we have time....
