sorry i dont think i made it clear, i was wondering if it is really necessary to be at the interview. I am trying to get a full time job at this moment and not sure how easy it will be to get vacations at the time of the interview whenever that is...but if it means the difference between being getting a visa or being denied a visa for my fiancee, it would be worth going no matter what :thumbs: Just wondering what all of your experiences were with that, I read the reviews and most people who went through Bogota said it would be a good idea for the sponsor to be present.

You don't have to be there but if you can, try just in case. Many beneficiaries go by themselves and get approved but in some cases, not always, but in some cases the CO does ask to speak with the petitioner, so it would be a good idea to attend. If you can't your SO can say you couldn't make it and that may also be acceptable.

It's really your call.

First off....CONGRATS!!!!!!!! Second, did you make it to your fiancee's interview?? I heard it is pretty difficult to get one in Bogota without showing up as proof of being her SO.

Hey

Nope, I did not go to the interview. My fiance said the interview lasted about 10min or so. She did not have any problems. One thing they did ask for was updated 1-134 HAAA I ate crow on this one. I had sent i-134 w orig petition per advice of visaamigo. My fiance said even though embassy website said they did not need it, she heard they still wanted updated copies. So i spent $100 on fedex and several hours preping a wad of more paperwork....ughh Sure enough they asked for it.... go figure. You would think if the web instructions say something they would follow it, but it just doesnt always work that way...

If you decide to show for interview

A plane ticket cost $1200 + other expenses. Unless you can make a trip out it, to only fly for interview then jet back to job search makes it costly for you. So you have to decide if its worth a short delay if the embassy decides they want you to show for the interview.

I hope all goes well for you.

My 2 cents worth is that, if you can afford to go and have the time, it is well worth it. This is especially true if there is ANYTHING about your relationship that may raise a red flag with the CO. Like what? Age difference, short-term relationship, children, etc. I haven't had time to go back and study recent histories on this site (we've been busy with the boys, school, jobs, etc. - life happens!), so I apologize if I'm restating stuff you already know or doesn't apply to you. I was asked several questions at my wife's visa interview, such as how we met and how had I ended up in Colombia in the first place. I think that, if you want the absolute BEST chance for your SO to get her visa approved, you should go to the interview if at all possible. I asked the same question you did because my wife's interview was in the summer when my job is at its busiest. I'm convinced, though, that she wouldn't have been approved if I hadn't gone.

There's another reason to go.... two reasons actually.... First, you show your SO, in a very concrete manner, that you are very, very serious about everything you are doing. More importantly, you show you are very serious about everything SHE is doing to make things happen. The second reason to go is to demonstrate to her family your real intentions with her. Remember that Colombia, like all Latin American countries, is VERY family oriented. Her family will be watching very closely how you treat her, both before and after you are married.

Best of luck to you both, whatever you decide.

Hello Pat and welcome to the Colombia club. Since you're going for a CR1/IR1 visa, you only need to send the NVC whatever is on the DOS website:

* Birth Certificate

* Court and Prison Records (if needed)

* Deportation Documentation (if needed)

* Marriage Certificate

* Marriage Termination Documentation (if needed)

* Military Records (if needed)

* Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

* Police Certificate(s) (this only refers to her Certificado Judicial)

She will need her Carta Migratoria from the DAS and her baptismal certificate to bring with her to the interview.

Hello Colombia club I just wanted to ask if anyone has any hotel recommendations for Bogota City. Preferably near this address Avenida 19#114 65. Naturally the best deal for the most in comfort is what I had in mind but most importantly Im just looking for a nice clean private place. Hostelworld.com seemed to have a lot of reviews of different places I could check in at but if you have something better you have used in the past and a thumbs up or down for it please let me know

I'm not too familiar with Bogotá so I have no idea where that address would be but check out these two places:

We Love Bogota

Fernando Suites

They're private apartments that are highly recommended. We rented the master bedroom in the welovebogota link, the guy was very nice and it's in a good area, only a few blocks from the US embassy.

Other people have stayed at the apartments from fernandosuites and have also said nice things about them. From what I understand it costs less to stay here.

Just a couple of options for you to check out.

hey everyone, i didnt know there was a Club Colombia here. i asked this question in another thread but didnt get a response, then after reading through the posts i got the answer, but i still have 1 question. this is my original post......

hi everyone, i have recently received my NOA2 and now am preparing what i need to send for packet 3, i want to have everything ready before it even gets there. after checking with the requirements from the embassy,

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=Bogota

what we need to send for packet 3 is

1. Cover letter

2. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)

3. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2 only)

4. Copy of fiancée's passport (biographical data page)

We are doing a K-1/K-2 visa, therefore do we fill out a DS-230 part 1 for K-1 (fiance) and K-2 (fiances daughter)? it does state 'One DS-2100 is required per petition. One DS-230 is required for each applicant.' and do i need a copy of both passports or just fiances passport? Im not sure if i need to fill out for both now, or just at the interview?

Mainly our objective is to request at the interview the visa for K-2, accmpany and not follow. what we want is for them to give both visas, but we (my fiance and I) plan to fly first and get married and organized then in a couple months 3-4, i go back to Colombia and get my step daughter (shes 12 yr.). we dont want to have to wait because we wont have anyone do really help out in Colombia once my fiance leaves. My step daughter will stay with her grandmother but she will not be able to go to the capital for any reason, we would like to have this visa issued so when we are ready we can bring her. is this possible?

Thanks

so is it possible regarding the K-2 visa right away then waiting a couple months for her to actually leave, then for her to leave with me? At time of interview we will have a letter from the father notorized giving permission for her daughter to leave to the US with mother. I will probably go back to Colombia alone to pick her up....

Thanks

Omar what I failed to point out in the other threads is for the child to leave the country a notorized letter does nothing. It has to be done exclusivly the Colombian way as far as the notorazation. Call your local colombian consulate and ask. This is how I found a lot of my answers when my step sons left Colombia. Here is the link I copied to you in another thread.

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?
