Hey guys, happy new year to everybody!

We're getting kinda worried here 'cause we sent Package 4 on Dec. 28th and DHL confirmed delivery on Dec.30th and we have yet to hear from the NVC.

We had received a checklist from them after they processed the Affidavit of Support where they asked us to pay the IV fee and send in the forms and papers, so we sent the package attached to a letter in response to the checklist to the address that they provided on the checklist cover sheet instead of the one they gave us on the package 4 cover sheet since we thought it'd be important to answer the checklist.

Do you think maybe that delayed the processing of our papers? Should we have ignored the checklist?

What should we do now? We haven't heard from the NVC at all and it's already past the 20th and all appointments for February have been scheduled.

Is this even normal?

Thanks a ton for any help...

Call them first. She may not need to make an appointment to have it sealed but every person who's written about this has said that they had to go back to the embassy to have it done because they were told they couldn't do it themselves. Who knows, she may only need to drop it off and pick it up the same day.

Diana

Ok Diana, thanks for the info. I'll have her call over to the embassy about this- I wonder if we will have to wait until Wed. between 2-4 to get an answer from the IV Unit? I guess I will send an email and see if they respond..... Jeez, what next???

I can finally report some good news- they approved the visa yesterday! We went to the window and the guy (different one from last time- I thought for sure it would be the same dude) just asked a few simple questions to Valeria and then said it was approved! I was at the window looking at the paperwork he had in front of him, and it looked like a checklist of things that was checked off completed. Looked like several AP things they must have needed to get before ending it. It was 8 1/2 months that it took from the first interview in April. I hope I will hold the Colombia Club record for AP wait , because I wouldn't want to wish that long of AP on anyone!

We were in Bogota from Wed. until today Friday (interview was Thur.) and back in Pereira now, and heading back to L.A. on Monday. I don't think it has sunk in yet, but I can finally say visa approved...

Joe

First of all, congrats!!! You had to wait WAY too long, but I'm very happy for you. Troy told me about this thread and it took me a week to read all 68 pages, so I'm a little late in joining the group. I hope your SO joins you very soon and you have a good life together.

This thread has been VERY helpful to me in getting prepared for the next step in my Visa Journey.

Good Luck to everyone.

Hi Colombia Club...It's me...Ken.

I spoke with Carl today, and the interview at the Embassy did not go well at all. Carl will shed some light on his episode at the Embassy when he returns next week to the US. I have been talking to him, providing all the support I have been able to in his difficult time. In the event that he calls before returning to the US, is there any advice that I can give him regarding his situation? Perhaps, a petition for his K-1 visa to be held at Bogota before being forwarded away to NVC? Carl is doing everything he can in order to marry his SO in order that they can start a life together here in the U.S.

The best thing to do is to call the NVC to find out if they have it, do not wait for them to contact you. It's best to call really early in the morning when they open, I believe it's 7:30 AM EST or late at night, around 11 PM to talk to a rep. It could be that you sent the DS-230 package to a different address if you didn't follow their instructions, but who knows. Call them first to find out.

Joe,

At least it's something simple that you can get fixed. Not like AP where there was nothing you could do.

So sorry to hear that Ken. As far as what he can do, it really depends on the situation. If they were flat out denied a visa and were told the case was being sent back to the NVC and then the USCIS for review, he needs to contact an Immigration attorney as soon as he gets back. If it was AP related, the only thing he can do is way just like Joe did.

I reviewed the last few pages and found out that Joe and his SO finally got their visa. We're so happy for you guys! Congratulations!

Also, I'm very sorry to hear about Carl's possible denial... hope we get to find out what really happened soon so we may assist him somehow.

Diana,

I may have finally caught a break, (or maybe they just took pity on me!) I sent them an email asking what our options may be and if we can just send them the package. They then ended up calling Valeria, and instructed her to send the package back to the embassy by Domesa and they will send it back by Domesa- we pay both ways, of course, but better than having to go all the way back to Bogota.....

This was a denial, and I believe an Attorney might be his best option. He has been through a tremendous amount of setbacks with his case, and I know this is tearing at him right now. :crying:

And what did they base it on? I mean, why did they deny them?

Hi Everyone,

I am back. Jessica and I were refused Visa.. All they told me was for me to accept to withdraw this petition ..He said something like he was going to add some comments to it and that I had to sign it..I did not sign..He only gave us verbal interview . Jessica was 50 mins long. He said if I diid not sign it he would send it back to USA. OMG we are so upset. We have no clue what to do..

Its was terrible .. I am back in Florida now.. We had a hard week together with dealing with all this that happen. We are in love and wantt to be together.. I was checking into just getting married there and refiling a k-3 ..I am so lost on what we need to do..We were told at 1000am to return at 100pm for intewview We waked out rejected and horrible upset at 400pm.It was extremly stressful for us both we sat in front of the Embassy and let out are emotions.

Please any direction for us.. PLEASE HELP US ..
