We go to a wire transfer service here in Denver, it's called AFEX and you can find it in most Latino stores in the country. They charge $4 for every $100 and pay a lot more than Xoom. Last week I checked out Xoom's site because it's more convenient but noticed that they were paying like $1900 and something pesos per dollar when AFEX was giving $2040 pesos.

Diana

Chase charges 40 I believe for the transfer I dont think there is a maximum so if you are sending 1000 or more it is best through the bank I think because you get the actual exchange rate

Jesh that sounds like AFEX would be the way to go but unfortunately I don't think we can use AFEX in S. Korea so might have to go with Xoom for the internet convenience. Anyway guys its only 2 days away!

Happy New Year to all. We have our second appointment at the embassy on Thur. Jan. 14th. Looks like I will be there- again! I had a trip planned to Pereira from Jan. 9th -18th, so I will go with her and see what they say- if they let me in! Same drill- be there at 7:00 am and wait for our name to be called, I guess. Hell, maybe they will approve it- has been over 8 months since I was there for interview number one and placed in AP...

Joe

i hope everything goes good this time. i will be there on the 9 and 10 if you want to to hang out that day let me know

One more question I forgot to ask if someone can help me.

Jess got her sealed DAS envolpe in May or June of last year. Can she still use that one she has? Or is it to old..She has not traveled outside of Colombia,, Should I have her get a new one?

Thanks in advance,,

Carl,

As long as she didn't get the needed vaccines too far in advanced before the medical, she should be ok with just MMR, TD and varicella. How far in advance? It varies but a couple of weeks should be ok. All she needs to do is show her vaccination card to the doctor performing her medical.

As far as the DAS envelope, which I believe you're referring to the Migratory Movement letter/document, it should be good for 6-12 months but contact the embassy to see what they say since they're the ones requesting it.
