James,

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Your wife's visa will be good for her to enter the US, at POE the Immigration officer will stamp her passport with the I-551 stamp which will let her go in and out of the US for a year even if she doesn't have her green card with her. Meanwhile sit tight until you receive her green card in the mail which could take anywhere from 2 to 7 weeks, depending on how fast the USCIS can process her paperwork. But don't think that she cannot travel unless she has her card because the I-551 stamp will let her do this.

Diana

Diana you are such a good help I would love to send a postcard haha.

So we can be worried free? Do you think that the persons at the POE will demand a permanent address out of Adry or can she ask how long will it take to process. We are only staying 4 weeks max at my home residence now and then in between hotels from then on till March/April. Will they let us put down my Father's address at the POE just in case it takes longer?

And at the POE will they take her passport from her? She was worried about that as well and we need that to help process her Korean Visa as well. Also when they ship the green card via mail do they require the applicant to sign off on it or is it just mailed regularly?

Questions questions questions :D.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Adry says a very special thanks to you Diana! You should add us in facebook --- caliboylost@yahoo.com (me) aarzayus@gmail.com (adry)

i guess i have to wait but i was thinking maybe not an rfe because when i check status on the website there is an option to show you if it was in that stage. i hope i get letter before the 8th i would really like to know

Any updates, Harold??? :star:

no update yet just waiting for them to redeliver they said i should receive by jan 8th but i hope sooner than that just depends when they put it in the mail

update i get letter in the mail yesterday and i open and it looks like the first notice of action. so i call and ask them whats going on and they say this is the correct one they send out. so i asked why they would send this out if i already received in the beginning and she made it sound like this is the first time they send out. so then i asked her about the status saying it is in the ceremony and oath stage and she said it is still in process. oh well got excited for nothing, so i guess i am still waiting for them to review and give me answer.

want to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year.

James

James,

The guys at POE will only process her entry to the US and then send her paperwork to the USCIS. It's up to the USCIS to process her residency documents. I'm not sure if they will be able to change her address at POE since the DS-230 was already filled out before the interview, but call the USCIS to find out if the Immigration officers can change this information. If not, your wife will need to change her address electronically by filling out form AR-11 and you as her sponsor will need to mail form I-865. This way, the USCIS will mail her green card to the new address if it takes more than 4 weeks to process. Or, if it gets lost in the mail you'll have evidence that you changed your address with them and that they should have mailed it to the new address. If you don't have evidence of this, they will charge you $370 to have another green card made and mailed to your wife. Keep in mind that you will have to change your address with the USCIS every time you move until your wife becomes a US citizen since they need to know where they can find her at all times while she's a permanent resident.

Also, at POE she will only get her passport stamp with the I-551, they won't keep her passport.

I hope all had a great Christmas (or Holiday if you prefer!) Just got some updated news: Tomorrow will be 8 months of AP for me, but got some news today- The embassy just called my gal this morning and told her to go to the bank and pay and then call and make an appointment for the embassy. Not sure what this means or will happen at this "appointment", but it is the first news we've heard in months....

Thanks for watching our wedding. I received a phone call from Nikita2Charles also from VJ while standing in the chapel lobby while they were still web-simulcasting our wedding. Most of the wedding chapels in Las Vegas are doing this, and you will see weddings throughout town around the clock. In terms of expense, it isn't too outlandish, and visitors were there from around the world. Leidys returned home with a new taste for buffets and clothes that fit a bit snug for her liking. Book on Expedia.com for decent room rates.

Hi everyone, I hope all of you had a great 2009 and a better 2010!!

For me 2010 is starting off really good since I have my interview in 2 weeks. We are very excited!!

I have a couple of questions.

My original interview was set for January 4th and my son's interview was set for January 14 (USCIS didn't link them together). I changed my interview for the 14th to have it the same day as my son. We just received in the mail the packet for my interview. It says Interview Jan 14, MEDICAL Jan. 04. I live in Medellin, does this mean I have to get my Medical this Monday and come back on the 14th for my Interview? For those of you who went through this process already, can you please share some information on this? I was planning on going to Bogota on the Jan. 12, do my son's and my medical on the 12th and do the interview on the 14th. Can the Medical be done like this or is it only by appointment. Has anyone had any luck with changing a Medical so it can be coordinated with the appointment?

Thank you!
