Same here. Very good service with Fed-Ex. Also, Deprisa (Avianca Delivery) delivered a package directly to my work here in Southern CA from Barranquilla a few months ago. So, two viable options for you.

Hey guys...quick question. What is the best way for someone in Colombia(Cali) to Priority Mail a letter back to the states? What service?

Hey Troy,

I'd say by mule is the best way.... ha- sorry, had to say that! I also used fex ex one time, but I remember it was pretty expensive...

By the way, I tried to call Bogota today to see if they could tell me anything about my case (fat chance), since I have not called there for a couple months, but they are closed for Veteran's Day- forgot about that. Believe it or not, today marks exactly one year to the day that I sent my K1 case off to the California Service Center... :protest:

We always use Deprisa from Avianca since it's very reliable. It'll leave Cali and land in Miami and then DHL picks it up from there and delivers it to its final destination. The average delivery usually takes between 3-5 business days.

DS 156 only for K1 or do i need to fill that out at the embassy?

James,

Form DS-156 is the visa application for K visas, both K1 and K3. If you choose to go for the K3 visa, your wife will have to go to Banco de Crédito with two filled out DS-156 forms and pay $131. But in all honesty it's a waste of money because you already paid the visa fee of $400 to the NVC for the CR1.

Diana

I agree Diana cool cool. GUYS just about ONE WEEK LEFT before the interview. Next tuesday i will have mi esposita en mis abrazos uno mas vez. Gracias a DIOS. I fly out of Miami at 5ish am and arrive at Bogota at 1030am. Thanks to all that have given me advice and been with us on every step of the way! We will now face one of the most scariest of hurdles but we are going to prove to UNCLE SAM that we are in love.

Don't worry, the CO at the Embassy will check to make sure all of your T's are crossed, and I's are dotted. He will also observe you and Adriana to make sure you interact as if you are legitimately in love. That will be the easy part for both of you, as it was for Leidys and I.

Thanks for your suggestions....my friend just returned from Cali a couple of weeks ago and had his fiance sign a 325A...unfortunately he forgot to check the form expiration date and there is a more current one available now. So he needs to send one down and get it signed...I had used Fedex in the past but remember it being expensive, so I will pass on your suggestions! Muchas gracias!

Juan Valdez is OK. I like the hooded sweatshirts they sell more than the coffee per se... LOL But beware... the sizes run short and shrink over time in the washing machine.

Good news from new interviewees. I hope to hear better things from Joe soon.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I stayed at www.welovebogota.com back in 2007. It is a furnished apartment, not a hotel. It is within walking distance of the embassy and the owner is a good guy. I know others have stayed their since. Perhaps they can chime in with some current feedback.

My Fiancee Leidys looked on-line, and most hotels in Bogota charge approximately $80 per night. That city is not budget-friendly like Barranquilla or Santa Marta.

Last month, we stayed at www.welovebogota.com and it cost us roughly $40 per night. Much more economical -- Plus, it is only 2 BLOCKS FROM THE EMBASSY. 10 MINUTES ON FOOT.

Here is a picture of me standing in the neighborhood with the embassy just over my left shoulder.

If you get the Master Bedroom (Highly advised), you get this pimped-out view of the city.

For under 5 000 COP each way, you can visit Salitre Plaza - a short ride from www.welovebogota.com for all of your shopping needs.

An IMAX theater is located across the street from Plaza Salitre.

1 Block from the US Embassy is a great American-style Western-themed restaurant.

http://www.cabanadelsheriff.com/home.htm They are only open for breakfast and lunch, though.
