My fiancee has her interview on thursday, dec. 3. What is the probablility that we can pickup her visa at domesa offices in bogota on saturday, dec. 5 or will it be monday, dec. 7?

Our interview was Oct 8 and it got delivered on the 19.There was one hoilday and four weekend days inbetween. So 19-8=11 - 4 weekend days =7 - 1 holiday = 6 days.

They claim 6 to 8 business days.

Chances are slim to none. The embassy has to get her visa ready and for that it may take 2-3 business days. So it may be ready for pick up on Tuesday Dec. 8th (Friday day 1, Monday day 2) ... however, that is a national holiday so it may be ready on Wed. Dec. 9th.

Hello all glad to see everybodies cases beginning to nudge a little more to the finish line. My wife's case has finally been completed at the NVC and now they are going to schedule for an interview in December more than likely. I already know that November's dates have all been filled up but when I brought this to the attention of the NVC employee that my wife already has an interview and if they can send the package prior to November 19th we could knock out the CR1 Visa interview without any problems. A hole in one manuevere if you ask me! But anything smart and simple for the government is much too complicated in reality. Their supervisor 'Sue" replied and said i need to file an expedite request or get my military commander to sign off saying that i am being deployed somewhere.. Gahh.. Why can't anything be simple with these people. All i want is that the package arrives before November 19th. The embassy is up and ready for this why can't the NVC be? Soooooooooo this is all im waiting on guys. That package. Maybe i can track it but I dont know what they are going to do with it. They said that they will hold on to the package till they schedule an interview during the first two weeks of November.. A big fat NO NO for our situation.. We need all the time we can get. So does anyone know how long it takes for the NVC to send a CR1 package down to the embassy after they go case complete on it?

Our Interview was on October 7th, and the Visa & Passport arrived at the Domesa office in Barranquilla on Friday October 16th.

Leidys received a phone call on the morning of Monday October 19th explaining that Domesa does not travel to her barrio. She picked her Passport/Visa package on Tuesday the 20th  .

So 19-7=12 -- 7 business days total delivery time from Bogota to Barranquilla via Domesa.

Hello guys,

We're getting ready to send the I-864's to the NVC.

Has anyone had experience with joint sponsors at the Bogota embassy?

I heard that Consular Officers in Manila (Philippines) tend to deny people with joint sponsors, which I think is highly arbitrary...

Does anybody know if they do that in Colombia aswell?

Our joint sponsor is Amour's grand mother so I don't think there should be a problem with this, right?

Thanks a bunch,

-Cristian.

James,

As soon as the NVC makes the appointment with the embassy they send the case to Bogotá. Since your case was completed last week, they will most likely make your appointment during the first week of November (next week) and the embassy will receive the case about 3 days after that. I think you'll make it so keep calling them on a daily basis to find out when they were able to make the appointment and when they sent it to the embassy. As soon as you know that they sent it on X day, give it about 3 days and then contact the embassy directly to find out if they indeed received it.

Cristian,

I've read the same thing about the embassy in the Philippines and it's totally wrong because as long as a beneficiary has a co-sponsor that makes enough, there shouldn't be a problem. Fortunately the US embassy in Bogotá is not that picky, so if your co-sponsor has you covered, you're good.

The front seat of my Rubicon was too small to sleep on, so I curled up on the back seat for seven hours!

I have a Jeep Wrangler Sahara and I cannot even fathom the thought of sleeping in the back seat for even an hour. There's just no room!

Ken is living proof that yoga works!

Just the latest on my AP nightmare wait:

I asked my Congressman's office to contact the embassy in Bogota, and see if they can get anything specific about my case in AP. They sent an email and received this reply today, from them:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to divulge more specifics of the administrative processing. I can tell you, however, that these processes currently have a backlog of about six months. We expect to finish the process in the case shortly, and we will contact as soon as possible after the process is finished.

Best regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Embassy Bogotá

I am not quite sure how to interpret the message "6 months backlog"- maybe add 6 months onto the normal AP time of 2-3 months? I'll be hitting six months of AP the end of this month....

Oh well, what the hell ya gonna do.....

Joe

Smokin

Joe- I think the flag just went up that they are going to push this through really fast now due to the congressional inquiry...

I truly expect to see good news here soon bro.

Joe --

I'm hoping your case is resolved soon as well. Keep us posted on things.

Fey --

It looks like your interview is just 2 weeks away!!:dance: Remember those dates of when you first met, and when you last visited with your Prometido. You will be asked these questions with someone staring directly into your eyes for uncertainty.

Found out there are some mistakes on the example for the ds156 when you are filing in Colombia you can not put permanent for the lengh of stay in the us has to be one year. you can not put that you plan to work with employer unknown said you have to have a job offer letter for you to answer yes and you can not put the name of the person paying for your trip it has to be fiance. so plan on two trips there I guess to the bank where you pay the fee. They tell you what to do.

Hello All,

The process seems to be flying for me..(crossing my fingers).. The embassy in bogota will receive the package from NVC tomorrow. We plan on faxing the package 3 tomorrow as well, why wait?

So now my question is... what is the pattern for the the interview?

Before the 15 of the month, and your likely to received the date within the next month?

After the 15 of the month, and your likely to receive the date the following month (aka 2 months away)?

Next question, What happened with Joe's case? It appeared everything was going well until the embassy interview... is there a flag? What is the box that was checked about?

Thanks,

David

-P.s. I hope the process speeds up for you Joe!
