Our case was put in AP process the day after the interview. I heard this is normal? has anyone in Bogota embassy went threw Ap and what seems to be the average time of this?

Does anyone know if they call you in for a second interview also?

Most of the things I have read the AP is generally around a month there are a few cases that skew the average...

I received a letter from the embassy that seems to sound positive about our Ap process. On top of everything our case is a expedited case, and my wife is pregnant.

Dear Mr. Whitted:

We are very, very sorry, but in your wife’s case, there is an administrative process that is required by law to be completed before we can approve your wife’s visa. Unfortunately, we did not notice that this process was necessary until after your wife had departed the Embassy.

We apologize for the confusion and the system malfunction that resulted in your wife having to come to the Embassy twice, and we also apologize for the delay in issuing your wife’s visa. We are doing everything possible to expedite her case, and we are sensitive to the fact that she is pregnant. We are hopeful that this process will be resolved soon.

Again, many apologies for the inconvenience caused to you and your wife.

Sincerely,

IV Unit

Wow! A little one is on the way!   Congrats to both of you!!:star::dance:

It sounds to me like there are some serious technology glitches in the 286-based Windows 2000ME-era computer at the Embassy.

Leidys and I did some comparisons with the lodging in the Bogotá area nearest the Embassy. Here is what she came up with:

Can anyone please give us an example of how many days it took you to recieve your visa?

:star::star:

I think I remember it being about a week..

Congratulations!!!

May I ask one favor for those going into interviews soon?

If you dare... talk with Joe about mentioning to the COs... about their knowledge of his delayed AP... maybe they'll snap to work a little faster and push it through.

It may be best to not mention Joe within a 5 mile radius of the embassy...joking buddy

Come on Troy- I need all the help I can get!!! Well, better make it a 10 mile radius just to be safe.... :hehe:

Check with different traveling agencies, they can get you a good deal through the colombian airline Aerorepublica with their "Planes a Volar", they have "Visa plans" with good hotels near the embassy, and they include tickets, stayings, breakfast and transportation airport-hotel-airport, hotel-embassy-hotel. We got the cheappest deal through my traveling agency. I made my research with different hotels and airlines, and what we got was even cheaper than doing it straight with Aerorepublica. And a lot more cheaper than finding the hotel and tickets separate.

Good luck ! :star:

Good choice Ken. That's where we stayed when we went for my husband's visa and the embassy is only a 5 minute walk from the place. Now, it's not a 5 star hotel but it's very nice in a nice neighborhood, 24 hour security, kitchen, cable TV, etc. There's also several nice restaurants nearby and the shopping center Gran Estación is a few minutes from there, it has lots of small restaurants and a nice movie theater.

But like you said, can't beat the price!

Yes, the master bedroom has its own bathroom. They rent all 3 bedrooms but the chances of them getting other people to rent them while you're there are not very high. The rooms also have their own special keys so no one but you can open them.

You can see the pictures of the place at www.welovebogota.com

Ok and update on my Colombia embassy experience. the embassy emailed me back today in regards to my Ap process. This was there question.

Great news today. the embassy emailed me and asked a strange question about my wife. they asked me if my wife was married before? I said yes she filed divorce prior to our marriage and it was complete.

I wonder why they asked this question, this information is in the original I-130 packet. So now I know this AP process has to do with my wife's prior marriage. the email said this.

Dear Mr. Whitted:

Thank you for your message.

Please inform us ASAP: was your wife ever married prior to marrying you?

Thank you,

IV Unit
