Required Documents

Original documents, photocopies, and translations of the following documents must be submitted to the National Visa Center for the applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States.

* Marriage Termination Documentation (if applicable)

Question: I received my original Marriage Termination Documentation in '07 from the Family Court here in California.

Does it need to be notarized? If so, does the certificate by the Notary need to be a Jurat-type or an Acknowledgement-type of Notarization?

Thanks and thanks again.

Diana- that Cat Sitting DVD is available on amazon.com. I tried to get the version that auto loops around when I am not available to restart it. Unfortunately my cat is way to picky on what he likes to watch. Sometimes he will watch it and sometimes he doesn't... He is sooo moody.

Hal- yeah it is such a silly document.. And if is filled with useless information or (God forbid) false information because my wife never left Colombia at all then Ill wait till the last moment when the embassy wants it.

My k3 visa docs were recieved successfully at the embassy and now they reported to us to check back Sep 20th or so to see where they place us for the interview. I am praying that they put us in November, I guess Ill have to explain that to them in advance that we are actually trying to tackle to CR1 visa and would rather have that switched around. So we will see very soon.

So now I am waiting for the AoS and the DS3032 to go through the system. As far as my other documents are concerned my I864EZ package is a go and the IV package just needs a cover sheet. So now just waiting on NVC :D.

If its sealed (stamped by the court, etc) then no...

It is a stamped, wrinkled form with date stamps and the name stamp of the person from the court who prepared this form - my original. So, it is not in a sealed envelope. Will the embassy RFE this??

Yeah, as long as it's the original document then you should be ok. And good luck with them witches at the first windows. I still don't know, for the life of me, why in the world they're so rude and condescending. I really don't.

Ha- I guess I got kinda lucky with our first window lady- she wasn't so bad- just not much of a personality, but otherwise ok. The dude (CO) that conducted our interview at the second window was grilling me pretty good, but also was not too bad either- he just would never look me in the eyes, at all- was looking right past me with zero eye contact. I think he already had AP decided before I even stepped up to the window....just a guess :hehe:

Good luck Ken- hope the two weeks goes by fast for ya!

I just decided to throw out an email to my "friends" at the embassy, since its been a few weeks- here is our little chat:

Dear Mr. Patton:

We apologize again for the delay in processing your case.  Normally these administrative processes do not take quite so long.  We are hopeful that it will be concluded soon.

The only documents that expire in an immigrant visa case are police certificates (valid for one year from issuance) and medical exams (also valid for one year).  When we call your fiancée to come back in, we will review her case first to make sure that neither of those has expired.

Sincerely,

IV Unit

Subject: K1 case # BGT (in AP)

Hi,

I was just hoping to get a quick question answered about my case, please. We have been in AP for about 4 1/2 months now.

(our interview in Bogota was April 29th) Is there any kind of timeframe where something (our application, her medical exam, anything) will expire at some point?

Can AP continue to drag on for many more months without any worries about a deadline for anything expiring or a need to re-do?

Thank you very much,

Joseph Patton

Ken,

The CO's can be a little hard to read when you are at the window..the only thing I got stuck on was when I was divorced, I couldn't remember...lol. But I asked her if she could help me if she had my divorce decree in front of her. The other thing they grilled me on was how we communicate. She asked me that like 3 different ways and I explained I speak Spanglish and Alexandra went to school for 15 months for English. But she was as cordial as she could be and I did not feel the least bit intimidated, near the end we engaged in a little bit of small talk about Bogota. Alexandra went to the window first and the CO wrote down all of her answers, verified and marked through the answers on her notepad as she ask me the same questions. I was very upbeat and very smiley during the entire process. They do watch your interaction together while you are waiting for your turn.

You will be fine...

I would try to avoid the "not look in your eyes" guy Joe had
