Why the sarcasm? Seems nice to me..

Because it's a typical Colombian answer. It should be such an important document that should show every trip on it and they just shrug it off.

Diana

What do you mean by typical Colombian answer? That was a USA government answer, and it is very serious

It may come from the embassy but the people checking this documents before the interview are Colombian, the people answering the e-mails are Colombian, the people answering phone calls are Colombian. The COs, which are the US citizens working at the embassy are the ones who conduct the interviews after all paperwork has been checked by the other people, who are Colombian. So yes, to me it's a typical Colombian answer and yes, it should be very serious thus the sarcasm in my answer. These things are serious and so are the documents and yet they shrugged it off.

Diana

IT IS AN OFFICIAL US GOVERNMENT ANSWER, NOT A COLOMBIAN ANSWER, THIS CAN BE TAKEN TO A COURT IN USA, AN IS A USA GOVERNMENT ANSWER, IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE USA GOVERMENT ANSWERS IN WRITING, JUST BECAUSE MIGHT, (JUST MIGTH YOU DO NOT KNOW) HAPPENS TO BE BORN IN COLOMBIA, THEN WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE WHAT A PAISA BORN IN COLOMBIA SAYS, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE WHAT PEOPLE SAY, NIETHER ALL COLOMBIANS NOR NORTHAMERICANS ARE CROOKS!!!!!! ,

I have another question about using the shortcut below of faxing Packet 3:

After confirming that the embassy has your package follow these steps. You do NOT need to wait until you receive package 3.

Prepare your package 3 response. It should include the following items only. There should be a total of 5 pages including your one page cover letter.

1. Cover letter

2. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)

3. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2 only)

4. Copy of fiancée's passport (biographical data page)

In my case, my fiance has a son and I understand that we have to fill out a DS-230 form (pages 1 and 2) for her and also him, but just one of the DS-2100 forms will cover both. My question is should I also include a copy of his passport, along with hers? I also plan on mentioning his name on the cover letter...

THANKS for any info!

Joe

You are correct, one DS230 per aplicant which in this case are your fiancée and her son, and one DS2100 for petitioner, in this case you, and the passport copy is per applicant

The DS-2100 is not about the petitioner but it's all infor about the beneficiary, or beneficiaries in your case, telling the US embassy that they have ALL documents they told them to get before the interview. Only 1 DS-2100 is needed since your fiancée and her son are related. This is what the DS-2100 instructions say:

FORM DS-2100

NOTIFICATION OF APPLICANT READINESS

You, or your agent, may notify United States Embassy Bogotá that you are ready for an interview by using this Form DS-2100. The form indicates that you and your family members (if applicable) have obtained all the necessary documents for the immigrant or K visa interview.

Diana

Got it- thanks Diana!

Well, many of those being employed at the US embassy who happen to be Colombian have in fact given out incorrect info. Not only that, they've used their web site to post incorrect info as well. So it's not surprising, to me anyway.

And I'll stop posting about this since it's a bit off topic.

FYI to all-

The Banco de Hot Garbage tried telling Ms. DeathNova today that she has to pay for her K2 (join later) *now* before the interview. She flat refused to pay it and demanded to only pay for her own, after a short argument they basically took the money, issued the receipts, and said good luck.

Confirmed with Bogota today that you do NOT need to pay for the K2 (join laters) in advance and SHOULD NOT pay in advance.

Well, I don't know how to really pose this question but here it is:

My wife recently received her CR-1 Visa (Immigrant Visa), is it a requirement to purchase a round trip ticket. I know that if one is flying on a tourist visa, as a Colombian visiting the US, this requirement is upheld.

If I purchase just a one way ticket will she have any problems with say DAS or the airline staff. Please let me know, thanks.

JETBLUE recently started flying to Bogota and the one way fair is $140 to Orlando, FL.

No she does not have to buy two way ticket, however, you will find that one way tickets are more expensive than two way!!!!!!!, so shop around and see!!!!

I am a first time poster and I have a couple of questions about the K1 process in Bogota. My fiancee and I received NOA2 from Vermont and our petition left NVC on 1-30. It should be at the embassy today or tomorrow, but was not there yet this morning when I called DOS. I see in the Embassy Info section for Bogota I or my Colombiana need to fax the following to the embassy when we are sure of receipt:

1. Cover letter

2. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)

3. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2 only)

4. Copy of fiancée's passport (biographical data page)

However in the Colombia Clup Topic Peter Miami says we should fax and send by courier "a copy of your fiancées passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1", and further into the topic, AngelyLuzmy writes "I called the embassy and they told me that I had to send the DS-156". Further, the K visa instruction package from the US embassy Bogota website says I sould mail OR fax OR email one copy each of the Forms DS-2100 and DS-230 Part I.

My first question is what documents do I really need to fax and do these need to be couriered as well?

Secondly, on the DS-230 part I there is a section for information on the beneficiary's (applicant's) spouse. Since we are K1 filers and not yet married, should she include my info here or "not applicable"?

Finally, I recently changed jobs (last week). I have my tax and bank information, am well above the required income level, and my new job pays significantly more. If I need it, I also have an excellent co-sponsor. I do not have a notarized statement from my old job stating income and employment, but I can procure one from the new job. In your opinion, does the job change necessitate the use of a co-sponsor?

I have found this site very useful over the past months and want to include my thanks to all of the posters and best wishes to everyone.

Please discontinue the condescending tone. Diana does not generalize and we can leave it at that.

Buy whatever fare is cheaper.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
