I do have to say that when we had our interview, the embassy refused to interview the lady who was in line in front of us because she was missing this document. Her daughter, the US citizen, had filed for her and they asked her to make another appointment so she could bring this piece of paper. She looked for it for like 30 minutes in the briefcase she brought with her until she found it.

BUT... again, the lady in the Spanish Colombia K1 thread said she didn't have it and the embassy didn't have a problem with it. Maybe they changed their policy regarding the document... who knows.

Just an FYI, so you can make an educated decision. Sort of.

Oh, damn the uncertainty of it all! I was thinking about this earlier actually, kind of double-backing on my original ride-the-lighting approach. It would really be a bummer to have the same experience as Joe - especially since she's got 20 hours round trip in the bus to Bogota for the interview and I was going to fly down. Ugh. Just a little piece of paper from Istmina...

Hey Steve,

I had my gal get it- after much prodding on my part- just in case. It is "suggested" as Diana mentions, so seemingly not mandatory. If it can be gotten, get it, but it "shouldn't" be a deal breaker if you have everything else in order. But, as in my case, who knows what the hell they will demand of you guys at the interview- I still don't know what if anything they will want further fron us....

I would be safe rather than sorry and have her get the paper...it may take some work but why give any reason for them to say no or extend this process? Alexandra had her 20 hour round trip bus ride, but at the end it was successful. The end result kind of makes it worth the grief of tracking down the paper. But then again she may not need it

my fiance didnt bring hers and wasnt a problem. they asked her if she had her baptism certificate and she said no, that she wasnt bapitized (even though she was).....in order for her to get a copy of her baptism cert. she would have to go to her hometown which was hours away and not very certain to get it. she is from a farm in cauca. she would have to traval from cali and once in popayan she would have to take a chiva to get there.

she just said that she wasnt bapitzed and they didnt give her any problem for it....a simple ok and that was it.....

Hello everyone I flew back to Colombia on April 28th to marry my Colombian princess. We married in Barranquilla and then trollied over to Cartagena for our honeymoon. Let me say that it was a blast and I got to spend it all with my girl. Now that I am back I am ready to tackle on this giant behemoth hurdle known as starting my wife's visa journey. Heh, after the hurdle I had to jump over just to get married in Colombia this shouldnt be so bad right? Anyway i have pretty much everything I need to file right as soon as my wife's paperwork gets delivered by the postal service tomorrow or the next day (g325 signed and some colombian affidavits of support, marriage license translated and notarized.) My current question is should I copy all these documents and send a copy to USCIS or send in all originals? I was originally planning on sending all originals but that would make things rediculously more expensive in the long run and not to mention a big pain. So what is your opinion? Send in copies or copies of certain documents or all originals?

James,

When it comes to the USCIS you should only send copies of everything. When the petition gets to the NVC you will need to send originals or certified copies. So save them for later.

Thanks Joe, I did get to see the big shoe and my wife was very insistent on getting a photo op of us jumping inside of it. Whew, smelly hahha. We also toured the colonial town and checked out the Rosario Islands. Where did you stay at? I wanted to go to see the Volcanoe but didn't get around to doing that.

Yeah my hotel was located a little further along the main street, Dann Cartagena. Pretty nice overall and I have been meaning to put a review on yahoo and hotels.com about it. With everything going on about the swine outrbreak there were countless guards and employees all wearing masks. So sad.. but otherwise we had a great vacation.

I working with NVC with our case, I'm sending today DS-230 package but at the same time my wife is sending DS-230 and DS-2100 to the US Embassy in Bogota Colombia but our CR-1 case is flying, so far I thing everything is going well but going through the guides it says that I can schedule the the K-3 interview and It could become CR-1 letter on! is that true? IF our case gets completed by NVC and forwarded to the Enbassy will the change the K-3 schedulled interview to a CR-1?

I would appreciate all responses, please help.
