Disappointed......... but keeping the faith

Hi everyone......... :)

I'm sure you have seen this kind of post many times before but I guess I just need to vent my disappoint. We submitted packet 3 documents by fax on March 7th hoping for a interview sometime in April. We could have submitted starting the 3rd week of January, but I was locked into a teaching contract through the 3rd week of March. The reason we waited was because I want to go to Colombia to be with my fiance for the interview process. We were trying to time it out, and after viewing other timelines for the amount of time between submitting packet 3 and a interview date, I thought it would work out in our favor. Well.... I just checked the newly posted April interview dates on the US embassy website and did not see our case number. Needless to say we are very disappointed. I was poised and ready in my own mind that I would be going to Colombia sometime in April. Especially since my fiance's mother, who is getting married, was waiting to know our interview date so she could schedule her wedding while I was there. The only thing I can think of is that the embassy is busier now and we have to wait longer. Or our documents never arrived by fax, though we have fax confirmation receipts that says the transmission went through. I wrote the emabassy so maybe they will respond.

Ok...... I feel a little better.... Thanks for reading my post, and most of all thanks for all your past advice.

Disaapointed in San Diego........ :hehe:

I would have thought that 2 months from your NOA2 would have been your Interview, provided that you emailed/faxed your Packet 3. I think the important part is that you are planning on attending your Fiance's Interview. Good luck!

I am awaiting our case number from the NVC. I would assume it should be soon since tomorrow will be exactly two weeks from the receipt of the NOA2 letter. My fiancee has been preparing her list of documents in preparation. I have thought about sending our packet back priority mail instead of faxing. With faxing there is always that chance that they may not get it or it will be misplaced. I guess my question is how good is priority mail in Colombia? Should I just do like everyone else and fax it? I guess I have to get the case number first. :)

Thanks Diana, so, you mean that I don't have to take with me the same packages that I have sent to NVC?

No, the NVC will send everything to the US embassy as you sent it to them. It's not a bad idea to take copies of all documents to the interview just in case they lose or misplace something.

dleeg,

Keep trying to reach the US embassy either via e-mail or by calling them each Wednesday between 2-4pm to find out if they received your interview package. Many times they do receive the faxes but misplace the documents and then say that they never received them. If that's what they end up telling you, the safest surest way to get that package to them is to scan all of the documents and e-mail them to the embassy.

This is the best way to ensure that they actually received the package. Plus, it's faster than all others.

That's what I did as well. I also requested a 'Read receipt'. It wasn't the acceptance email, but at least I knew when someone had looked at it. I received the actual P3 acceptance notice later that same day.
