Does anyone know if Helm bank is supposed to sign, seal, stamp or do whatever to the DS-156 Forms? We paid yesterday and they stuck the receipt on the front of the passport but handed the forms back completely untouched. I thought they were supposed to stamp it or mark it in some way?

Does anyone know? Today is the last business day before our interview and if this is going to be a problem, we have to get it fixed right away.

Thanks

Thanks...

Which branches did you guys pay at? I'm starting to think it is bank branch specific (or there just are no standards.)

I wrote the embassy and they told me that they should have attached bar code stickers but that they can process the case without them. She returned this morning and they told her that they used to stamp it in red but now they don't. They told her that just by accepting payment they were confirming that the DS-156s were good. She had originally gone to another branch but they wouldn't accept payment without the appointment letter. I don't know which is which at this time. I have to ask her later.

I had also written the embassy a couple weeks ago about how the form should be printed: double-sided or single-sided because I had seen something here on VJ concerning that. They told me it didn't matter to them. The first branch she went to accepted her single-sided DS-156 forms (but with no appt. letter wouldn't accept the payment.) The second branch (that marked nothing on the DS-156s) accepted payment without the letter but insisted on double-sided forms.. Who knows? :bonk:

With Maritza, they did not stamp DS 156, they only applied the sticker to the passport. The bank required the DS156 to be 2 sided. I thought tgat was strange though since I hadnt read that anywhere.

Kenny,

She must've gone to the same branch as my fiancee.. lol

I had seen the 2-sided thing somewhere (maybe it was your post?), so I asked the embassy a week or so ago and they said it did not matter to them. But, when my fiancee arrived at this branch they told her 2-sided or nothing so she had to run out to get new copies of the DS-156 made.

I wrote the embassy this morning and they responded to me (in under 30 min!) and said that there should be a stamp but they can still process the visa without it. Plus, I feel a lot better now because I now know of two people who didn't receive the stamps on the DS-156 and there was no problem with the visa.

OK! This means we are ready to go! We're going to gather and arrange all of our documents, photos and other evidence tomorrow then spend the rest of the long weekend here relaxing.

Thanks everyone!

Great Ryna

Hmm, maybe she she did go to the same branch.. I remember there was a McDonald across the street..

I am still in Colombia, I leave Sunday... We just returned from a restful week from a finca... It was extra relaxing since I didn't have the Visa on my mind..

Today, sitting at our apartment in Medellin, Maritza AND I purchased the Tickets for her travel to the USA on Dec 2nd.. I will fly back down here for that trip...

Best wishes on your interview.. It sounds like you'll breeze through it...
