Congratulations! I have been part of a family separated by immigration laws. I can't begin to imagine going through that again. Having a family apart for too much time is something that we all hope to prevent.

Hello everyone i need help please!! :help:

Juan Esteban and I are getting married in exactly one month we want to have everything ready for the AOS to send right after we get our marriage certificate. but i am confused i know a couple of you have already been through the AOS stage so maybe someone can help us.

i am looking at the Step by Step guide on visa journey for the AOS and i am confused about this: Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status[/b]from my understanding he is supposed to go to a doctor but i dont know what he is supposed to take or do at the doctors who do we ask? or is there a specific kind of doctor he has to go too?

and my other problem is this: Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the Non US Citizen Spouse. Write the full name and A# on the back what is an A# we dont have that number? where can we get it?

thanks everyone this is just all new to me, for the K-1 visa process we had a lawyer so she knew exactly what forms and stuff we needed but she was a pain in our butts so we kicked her to the curb and we decided to do the AOS on our own so we will be asking for a lot of help!

Hi there,

The medical examination your fiancé had in Colombia is valid for 12 months, so you're good with that. You still need form I-693 to be filled and signed by a civil surgeon approved by the USCIS (you can find a list of doctors on their website). To have this done, take the vaccination worksheet he received by the doctor in Bogotá and the doctor here should approve his vaccines and sign the form. Now, there are many places where they won't sign it unless he gets another medical, if that's the case remind them that his is good for 1 year and that all you need is for them to approve his vaccines and sign the form. Just don't get another medical, if they insist, go see another civil surgeon.

Your fiancé's A# should be typed on his NOA2. If it's not there, it should either on his passport or his visa.

Yes, they were supposed to give him back the vaccination worksheet that was included in his medical exam. You need to take it to the civil surgeon so he can fill out form I-693. If you don't have it, try calling the doctor in Bogotá to see if they can give you another copy of it. If not, he can also go to any doctor or health center to get a blood titer test for immunity. This test will show the vaccines he's had, the lowest cost I've seen is $25 and they charge by disease, so it would be 3 for MMR, 1 for TD and 1 for varicella.

bramirez04,

This is the form I told you about before your fiancé's appointment but you probably don't remember. I'm sure he received one but didn't pay attention to it because many times they give you one before you board the plane and if not, the flight attendants always make a couple of rounds asking people if they need to fill one out. The only people who don't need it are US citizens, permanent residents or people entering with visas CR or IR.

Try going back to the airport and explain what happened, they might give you another one. If not, then you will need to file a form to get another one. But try going to his POE first to see if they're nice enough to help you out.

It is that exact white, cardstock form that reads "I-94" on the bottom. It is on the same page as Juan Esteban's K-1 Visa from the Bogota embassy. You're both ready for your special day!
