I just spoke to DoS in D.C. and they told me that the physical file has not yet arrived but that the consulate has already sent out her P3 and that she can return the DS-230 and DS-2100 when she receives it. I suppose that this is our license to go ahead and send them in as we've already downloaded and completed them...

Hello everyone,

I sent Packet 3 to the embassy electronically yesterday and this morning I received the Read Notification Receipt, so I know it's been received and opened. Is that automatic notification going to be the only one or will they respond directly with something saying that it has been accepted?

Thanks

I received the acknowledgment this afternoon. It's in Spanish, so I had to go over it a couple times to be sure exactly what it says, but I think we're finally on our way to getting an interview date scheduled.:thumbs:My finacée will tell me for sure when she's read it...:)

Wow! Seriously?

I assume you mean the letter will arrive at my fiancée's address. Or, will I receive a copy in the U.S., too? Either way, it looks like I'll be booking a return visit to Bogotá sooner than I had thought!

Thanks!

In our case, I emailed the .pdf files for Packet #3, and I got the email from Bogota that following Friday (1 1/2 weeks later). This is what my Email letter said:

We have received the forms you sent. Bogotá's Immigrant Visa (IV) Unit schedules appointments as they become available. Generally, appointments are scheduled within two to three months. Each visa category and case is different, however, and we cannot provide a timeline.

Unfortunately, due to increased visa demand, we are no longer able to answer email or telephone questions about appointment scheduling or confirm appointment dates. Rather, please check our online appointment schedule which is updated on/about the 20th and 30th of each month.

To download forms, learn more about the visa process, or see if your appointment has been scheduled, please go to the Immigrant Visa Section of our website at http://Bogotá.usembassy.gov/visas.html.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

That's what the email I received today said (only in Spanish.) I suppose I hit the sweet spot for a quick turnaround by sending the PDFs yesterday.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I thought about that later. I plan on calling DoS on the 20th and again on the 30th if they don't know the first time. In the meantime, I'll check the website too, to see if they post the October appointments before then. Actually, I might be a little freaked out if it is in October because I'll have to make my return travel plans rather quickly and hope the D.A.S doesn't say "You again?" after only a few weeks away. :D

And, I'll certainly be checking my mailbox in the next couple weeks. The good thing is that my girlfriend received her "official" packet 3 here at the apartment yesterday after 5 days (I think. The postmark says "19.9.10" which should mean Sept 19, 2010 but it's only the 15th now, so???) Now, I have a little more confidence in her mail delivery and I know that the abbreviated version of her very long and descriptive address works.. :)

Hey Ryna

Just give them a week or 10 Days, then call NVC, they will know the Interview Date...

In the mean time, make sure she has all her documents from DAS..

Kenny

Thanks Kenny..

And, I told her she needs to start gathering the rest of her docs. Luckily, she works in the part of the city near all the DAS offices and can swing by during lunch one day and go pick up anything that takes time whenever it's ready the next week or whenever. The most difficult doc she needed to obtain (b/c of the distance) was her birth certificate and that arrived last week. We're looking pretty good right now, I think...

Hey guys! my father in law called today from Colombia and he told me that Juan Esteban got some immigration papers from Washington, i told him i didnt think he would get any more mail since the visa was approved and he is already here. I told him to go ahead and open it and tell me what it was he wasnt able to tell me anything really since it was all in english. he said it looked like an appointment later and the rest were a whole bunch of papers. the only thing i could think of is packet 4 but is it really possible for packet four to arrive over A MONTH AFTER the interview. does anyone know what this could be?? :help:
