Hi Everyone,

Two quick questions:

This DAS migratorio (beneficiary's history of travel into and out of the country), is it required for all applying beneficiaries, even those who have never left Colombia?

If so, does it have to be obtained from Bogota, or can it be obtained from Medellin, for example?

Thanks for your help!

Quick question on this topic: I know that the Judicial Certificate (Police Certificate) is only needed for applicants over 18 years of age. But, for the DAS Migratory one mentioned above, if my fiancee is bringing her 10 year old son with her, is one needed for him, too?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi,

I have two DS 230 related questions. Do I need to have the original police certificate from DAS to send in with the DS-230 or is the police certificate needed only for the interview at the embassy? Do I need the migratory document to send in with the DS 230 or is that also for the interview?

FYI, I see somebody asked a similar questions a few days ago, though I would still like a response. If it can be done online, what website?

Thanks in advance,

Dillan

It depends, CR1/IR1 visa petitioners need to send all original documents to the NVC for processing, this includes the Police Certificate. The Migratory Movement Letter will have to be brought in to the interview by the beneficiary.

Greetings friends, fellow VJers, Colombianos and yes even Costenas.

First and update,

Adriana and I are doing very fine. We decided to push back the date of our union to April 30th because her mother was going through a tough time and my work was creating some havoc. All in all love seems to conquer all and in the midsts of everything her mom pulled through and I decided to just visit her o inn the dates we set for the wedding Bogota instead. Even though we did not get married as planned we had a blast together! Did some shopping, went to the central park for a picnic, watched Slumdog Millionaire (great btw), played at the recreational facility, and ended up at Jaime Parque near Zapaquira on the last full day of my trip. Fun fun.

My question is a small one, I wasn't sure If mounting all the possible evidence for a bonafide relationship would go so I am going to turn to you all for advice. We want to build up as much evidence supporting statements as possible from friends and family. Can her Colombian friends and family send in an affidavit as well supporting our validity of a bonafide marriage?

Thanks!

James

PS: The advice of the I130 package is tremendous lifesaver on here but does everyone really send all the pages of chat logs, cell phone bills, photo albums and pictures in the mail along with the visa paperwork??

James,

You don't need to send all that evidence with the I-130, a couple of affidavits and a copy of your marriage certificate are more than enough. Save all the rest for the interview.

I'd like to thank every one of you who helped us with the assembly of the I-130 package; we have mailed it in!

What can we expect now?

Just wait for an approval notice from the USCIS. In the mean time, try to get familiar with the NVC forum where you'll find a lot of helpful info you will need after approval.

Thanks, Diana.

We have been getting the Affidavit of Support ready and everything else aswell. We're gonna try to use the shortcuts once we get to the NVC.

By the way, Diana, you've helped us a bunch. You cleared up a lot of the doubts we had about the initial package, same goes to Hal.

We're very grateful.

Congratulations Kelvin Omar, it will take about 2 - 3 weeks to get the SS# and welcome letter in the mail. After the welcome letter it take about 30 days to receive the permanent resident card.

My wife received her resident card on the 25th of March.

Hi all,

Getting ready for our April 29th interview date at the embassy in Bogota, which I will attend. A question comes to mind: I have heard that the DS-156 has to be in Spanish (and maybe printed on one page, front and back, and not two?) for when you go to the bank to pay visa app. fee? Just checking, as I just find the form in English and on two pages. (I suppose the bank has blank copies if so?)

Thanks,

Joe

My fiance's friend was denied a tourist visa that would allow her to visit and take part in our wedding. She had tons of docs and owns a resturant, but during interview they didnt even look at docs, they just ask 2 ques, then said sorry, your tourist visa is denied.

Is it worth the effort for me to ask the embassy to reconsider or write the ambassador?

Anyone else have luck with that or is difficult for Colombians to get tourist visa's??

Thanks for any help.
