ok thanks Ken i dont have a Sponsor i asked my lawyer if i need one and she said no so hopefully i dont need one! thanks again!

You probably do not need a Sponsor. Your Lawyer looked into this, so I would not worry about this.

When are you flying back to Colombia? Have a blast when you go.

bramirez04,

It doesn't matter how big your binder is as long as you're able to pull out whatever document or piece of evidence they ask for and are able to slide it under the window. There is a small gap under the window that allows you and the CO to slide documents through, I'd say it's about 2 inches wide, if that. So if you can pull out the pics or letters or whatever you may have from your binder and slide them through, you're good.

bramirez04,

I was just wondering if your request to have an appointment date on the dates you were traveling to Colombia was taken into account by the embassy when they scheduled it. It looks to me like they did but I wasn't sure. It'd be good to know for other members who may need to ask for a specific date with the embassy.

Thanks!

Diana

The page I listed says that 1 week prior to your Interview, you need to contact the Embassy. You should wait 2 1/2 more weeks before contacting them if your Interview letter doesn't arrive in the mail.

Let me know if you get it today....This will be 5 buisness days because Monday the 14th. was a holiday in Colombia and nobody worked so that does not count as one of the 5 days...........

Hola Panama,

Finally! We just called DOMESA this morning and her visa is available!! Whoo Hooo! I'm here in Bogota and we fly out Thursday so I was getting pretty worried. Apparently although we were approved on June 10th her visa was not actually ISSUED until June 18th. ?? Yesterday just before my flight down here I called the DOS and they were able to tell me the issue date and that was it. Of course when we called the embassy they told us over and over to call between 2-4 on Wednesday.... No help at all  . So.... If you have not gotten yours yet you might want to check with DOS if it had actually been "ISSUED" and when????

Good Luck Mi Amigo

Questions I have is:

On question #25 (last question on page 2) asks to list all previous visits she had to U.S. Will they be strict as far as comparing what she writes and to what the DAS Migratorio report actually states? She doesn't have that report yet, but I'd like to use short cut and fax in a couple days- long before she gets that report. Also, she used to (up until recently) have a tourist visa, so her trips to U.S. have been quite numerous over the last 5 years...

THANKS for any help, and more questions to follow..............

Joe<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Joe,

She needs to be honest on all her paperwork, so if she was here in the US, she needs to write that information down regardless of what her Carta Migratoria may show.

Also, if you're sure the embassy has received her case from the NVC, fax and mail packet 3 ASAP so she can get a March interview. Don't wait for packet 3 to arrive because chances are, it may never show up.

Mononoke28:

I tried to post to this Colombia group but my post went to general embassy page. Must I be a member of this Colombia Club for my new topic post about Bogota embassy to stick here (I posted while from this page earlier today.)? If I must be a member of The Colombia Club (I am a VJ member.), how do I do that?

My question (I wanted to start new topic here.): Does the March 1st requirement to use new electronic DS-260 application for non-immigrant visas (my approved I-129F was sent from NVC to BOG on 6/21/10) include K-1 Fiancee Visas as well? I prepared to follow the VJ K-1 short cut guide, but now the embassy site directs me to the electronic DS-260, while travel.state.gov FAQ for Online DS-160 http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_4401.html# #13 & #16 appear to treat K-1 Fiancee differently/"old" way.

Can you or anyone else clarify what Bogota really wants from me/fiancee for our K-1 Fiancee application once they receive my case (I'm the USC petitioner/fiancee is in Barranquilla)?

Thank you

Hello all,

I was all set to follow the VJ K-1 guide and now apparently out-dated yesterday Bogota embassy instructions regarding the steps to take after BOG receives approved I-129F from NVA (I am US petitioner. Spoke to NVA who told me they sent approved I-129F petition to embassy in BOG on 6/21/10.), HOWEVER, I see a change is process now posted on BOG embassy website: "Effective March 1st, 2010, individuals applying for a non-immigrant visa at the US Embassy in Bogota will be required to submit a new electronic application form, know as DS-160 Non-Immigrant Visa Electronic Application."

Has anyone else applied using this new electronic form? How did the procedure(s) change from what is in the VJ K-1 Guide?

I am concerned that my fiancee in Baranquilla will have difficulty doing this herself online (difficult for her to access good computer and ability to scan and upload photo). Could I help her by completing all but "signing" myself, then save onto the embassy site (they seem to say this is possible on site), then tell fiancee (with password) to access nearly completed form at site and complete and transmit to embassy?

Your experiences and or suggestions/thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

for K1 Visa is not required the ds-160 form, you have already been clarified by galenjr:

"When applying at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate that is using the new DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, you will use only one (1) form. For Embassies and Consulates that have converted to this new process, the DS-160 has replaced all of the following forms: DS-156, DS-157, DS-158, and DS-3032, which are no longer necessary.

NOTE: The exceptions are Fiancé(e) Visas (K-1/2) which still require use of the forms DS-156 and DS-156K,"

you can send the packet 3 once the embassy has the case, this may take 2 to 3 weeks
