OUR NOA2 GOT APPROVED YESTERDAY! IM SO HAPPY I THOUGHT SINCE WE GOT A RFE IT WOULD TAKE A LOT LONGER. SO ONCE I SEND PACKET 3 HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET AN INTERVIEW DATE, MY LAWYER SAYED I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT A MONTH IS THAT TRUE??

Carol faxed her Packet 3 on 4/12 and our interview date is 06/17...2 months. I think they booked up the interview dates for May before 4/14 and that is why our interview is in June. I thought that our interview would be in early June, but I can wait another 2 weeks. I found a savable copy of DS-230, so I filled it out in english and emailed to Carol. Carol then completed the DS-2100 in spanish and faxed both documents to the embassy.

If I were you, I would skip your lawyer and complete the documents yourself. You already have the info needed on the DS-230 in the G-325A form. As always, follow Diana's advice.

Good luck.

Mark

thank you that does help me a lot i think im going to wait till the first week of june to send it. diana said something about me writing them a letter in the email with packet 3 to tell them the dates i will be there, maybe they will be nice enough and give me us an interview date for when im there. can it be emailed in spanish or english? and where can i get my case number for my DS2100 form? i see everyone emails their packet 3 so i think that is the fastest and easiest way. just scan and email?

Call NVC @ 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5. You will need to reach a live person to get information on your case since the NVC’s automated system does not handle K1 visas. They will ask for your EAC case number, beneficiary's name, birthdate, and email and your name and birthdate. They will give you your new case number starting with BGT. Call early around 7 am or 11:30 pm...less of a wait. Our DS-230 was in english and DS-2100 in spanish.

diana my lawyer also asked me today to send her an employment letter and my taxes for 2007,08 and 09 am i supposed to send that too or is that for the interview date? i know you explained to me everything i need to send but i just dont know why my lawyer is asking me for that stuff. do you know how much u need to make a year for us to be able to get approved? thats for all your help!

The employment letter is to prove your current salary, start date, and if your position is permanent. You will also need a letter from your bank where you have your checking account. The letter should contain when you opened the account and the current balance. Banks are familiar with this type of letter and don't worry about your current balance. If you are financial responsible for yourself and your fiance only, then you have to make around $20,000/yr. Also, you will need 4 months of banking statements from your checking account. Go online and print your banking statements. All of these documents are to be taken to the interview, do not send with Pak 3.

you can do it in English, no problem. The NVC will send you a notice with your new case number, can also find out calling as Mark says

These documents are part of the financial evidence to be presented in the interview. The main concern for the embassy staff regarding you I-134 is INCOME. Other documents required: 3 years tax returns o tax transcripts (with tax transcripts you do not need W-2's) several recent pay stubs, copy of the last banking statements and employment letter

Now is time to review the list of documents for the interview and start to prepare photos, certificates, etc

so once i email it i will hear something back in a week or so? is there going to be a problem that my lawyer is involed because in the DS-230 it says she is the one who helped us fill it out. and all the paper work always goes to her. would it be a problem if we email packet 3 ourselves because i asked her and she said she will mail it not email it. i never recieve anything in the mail. i see on some peoples timelines NVC recieved what is that?

bramirez04,

You've received great advice from the Colombian Club Members above. Skip the lawyer and do everything yourself from now on if you want to speed things up.

So to re-cap, call the NVC early morning or late at night (they open from 7:30am-12am EST) to get your BGT case number.

Once you have it have your boyfriend e-mail packet 3 to the embassy himself with the documents I listed earlier. Tell him to write on his e-mail that he would really appreciate an interview date during the days you'll be in Colombia so you can go to the interview with him. Now again, this is not guaranteed but it doesn't hurt to ask right?

When you guys get his interview date he can then start making his medical appointment with the doctors listed on the K visa interview package.

Meanwhile put together your evidence and financial information. You don't have to give it to your lawyer because your boyfriend will take it himself to the embassy the day of the interview. You, as his petitioner will fill out form I-134 and send him copies of last year's tax returns with W2s or IRS transcripts, either one. If you have tax returns with W2s for the past 3 years, even better. Check the USCIS' Poverty Guidelines to see how much you need to make. If you don't make enough, get a co-sponsor to back it up. Also, bank statements are not needed if you're only using your salary.

One last thing, if your boyfriend hasn't gotten his DAS certificates (Police and Migratory) tell him to do so now, so he can have them ready. And if he's Catholic, he can also start getting a copy of his baptismal certificate.

I forgot to mention pay stubs. They're not a requirement but most people get them for the interview, I printed out pay stubs for 3 months for our interview. Oh, and employment letter, very important. It needs to say how much you make a year.

Diana,

Yes you are completely right all the advice is so helpful. I tried to explain to my lawyer a couple times already how important it is for Juan Esteban and I to go to the interview together because it would mean a lot to us, but she totally shuts me down and tells me there is no chance. So since she isn’t willing to try to move this process faster for us so we can try to make it happen I will just have to do it myself with the help of all of you! I really do appreciate it. I just got confused very easly lol so that’s why I keep asking so many questions. I want to do it right so we don’t have a problem at the end. The problem is that she is has most of our evidence, I asked my job for an employment letter and they had to send it directly to her so all I have is a copy of it, would that be ok?

Well, she will eventually mail your boyfriend or give you everything she's been collecting for his interview because she should not be mailing it to the embassy. And if that includes the original employment letter, then that takes care of that.
