Hey Ken!! i plan on sending my packet 3 no later then next week i am begging my lawyer because i planned a family trip to Colombia July 22 through Aug 8 so i am really hoping we can get an interview date around that time so i can go when i told my lawyer that today she told me not to even plan on it because that wont happen and she said they dont let me go in the embassy anyways. i dont know what she is talking about because i read on here all the time the other person goes with their SO to support them so i dont know why she is saying i cant  lol did u send ur packet 3 by email. now that i have been reading this visa journey so much i sorta wish i would have done this on my own i would be a WHOLE LOT faster then what my lawyer is.

If they didn't tell you that you had to be there it is ok if your fiancee attend the interview. When you have to buy a PIN sometimes is possible schedule a new date even 1 week later

That is what I wanted to ask.. I get paid every 2 weeks so Maria will buying the pin after I send her another 200,000 pesos for this on Saturday also for taxis and the Domesa and whatever else she needs. They said the evidence was solid and just needed this document from me . Maria picked it up Today from DAS. She will get the Pin next Monday and make an appt ASAP.. I was hoping that we would not have to wait 3-4 weeks for an appt. just to bring in a document.A week sounds good to me..Are you sure about that?

Thanks,

Drew

the PIN costs $US18, she has to wait 24 hrs before calling the Visa Information Center to get the new interview date, I don't know why sometimes is possible to get an appointment quickly, she may says that needs an appointment soon for a personal emergency ... you know sometimes " be dramatic" works

Forgot to ask...Will we get the same person who conducted the interview last week or is it handled by someone different...

I don't think so, they take notes about your case on paper and on the computer, so any CO may take the case

On the form given to us at the Embassy last week there is a box checked Seccion 221[g]

Administrativo it is checked Carta del DAS from me..

Then on the next line it says OTROS. The first box is checked. It says.

Su solicitud de visa ha sido retenida hasta tanto complete

administrativo interno.Nos pondremos en contacto con usted tan pronto

el proceso haya culminado y le informares el paso a seguir.

This sounds like AP to me but then mabye this box was checked because we still need to bring in the DAS report?

bramirez04,

I think the best way to do it is to time it depending on the dates. We all know that on average documents received by the embassy before the 15-16th of each month get interviews for the following month. So with that in mind, your fiancée can e-mail packet 3 the second week of June and put a note in her e-mail saying that you guys would like an appointment on those dates explaining your trip and that you want to be present during the interview. The worst that can happen is that they say no, but I don't see why they wouldn't do it given the fact that she'd be e-mailing packet 3 so far in advance. It's worth a try.

Also, your lawyer is wrong assuming they won't let you inside the embassy for the interview. All you have to do is take your US passport with you and say that you're the petitioner and they'll let you in together without any issues.

And one last thing, what are you begging your lawyer for exactly? I'm confused.

Diana,

Sorry i am so confusing i am just all over the place and super hyper about this whole situation lol...i explained to my lawyer that i already had this vacation planned since last year with my whole family so i was really hoping we could send packet 3 out soon so we can get an interview date around the time im there (which is july 22-aug8) and she is saying thats not going to happen and not to even make any plans because she says it takes a while to get an interview date. but i have read some post and i see that people get an interview date a month or two after they send out the packet 3. i am begging her to get all the packet 3 stuff ready asap so we can send it out but she said to me "let me check my calander to see when i have free time" should i tell my lawyer i want her to email it instead of mail it? because i am pretty sure she will mail it instead of emailing it. ADVICE NEEDED ABOUT WHAT TO DO PLEASE! and we have more letters and pictures etc since we sent out NAO do you think i can send it with packet 3 or just wait until the interview date to take all the other stuff with us. i just really want to be there for his interview for support....

Ok, now I get it. I was confused on what you were asking your lawyer to do and you said it was to send packet 3 to the embassy. Here's the thing, your lawyer doesn't have to send packet 3 for you, you can do it yourself, in fact, your fiancé can do it himself and you just have to let your lawyer know that you took care of it. It's faster, simpler and totally legal.

All that needs to be sent to the embassy is the following:

  • A cover letter (the e-mail itself) telling them what documents have been attached which should be:

  • Form DS-2100, which is page 4 of the Instruction Packet for Visa found in the US embassy website

  • Form DS-230 Part I, also found in the US embassy website

  • Copy of fiancé's passport (biographical data page)

That's all, nothing more, nothing less. Once the embassy receives his e-mail, they will let him know of the date of his interview. You don't have to wait for your lawyer to do it for you and you'll know exactly when packet 3 was sent to the embassy. And no, it doesn't take forever to get an interview date in Colombia as she says. As I posted earlier, if you send it before the 15-16th of the month, you'll most likely get an interview date for the following month. If not, then for the first few days of the month after that.

One last thing, save all additional evidence you now have for the interview. Don't send it to the embassy with packet 3.

Diana

bramirez04 perhaps this can help it +/- to calculate a date of interview, I have two examples, my case and someone else who got her interview date this week

Person X:

pck 3 sent: 2010-05-03

interview date: 2010-06-22 total days after the pck was sent 51

My case:

pck 3 sent: 2010-01-20

interview date: 2010-03-08 total days after the pck was sent 47

these are my 5 cents to help you to make a decision, the package 3 is easy to fill and your fiance can directly send it to the embassy , don't expect nothing from your lawyer

thank you that does help me a lot i think im going to wait till the first week of june to send it. diana said something about me writing them a letter in the email with packet 3 to tell them the dates i will be there, maybe they will be nice enough and give me us an interview date for when im there. can it be emailed in spanish or english? and where can i get my case number for my DS2100 form? i see everyone emails their packet 3 so i think that is the fastest and easiest way. just scan and email?
