My husband and I went through Miami when he first arrived with his CR1 visa. The wait time was only about 10 minutes since there was only one other person being processed before us, plus it was a Tuesday. I hear it's total chaos during the weekends. Also, the POE officials were very nice and all spoke Spanish since they were Cuban.

I've only seen two cases where the embassy requested the DAS certificate for the US citizen, so it's not very common. Maybe the CO felt that they needed to make sure the dates to and from Colombia match what you said during the interview, who knows.

Diana

Diana,

You say you have only seen 2 cases other than mine..Let me ask you this...What was the reason they asked the USC for this DAS certificate with the other 2 cases ?

PanamaJack,

I really don't know the reasons why the embassy asked for the USC's DAS certificate. All I know is that in the Spanish Colombian K1 thread there have been two girls who said their visas were put on hold until they brought the document to the embassy. They weren't denied, they were just put on hold.

Diana,

Thanks for your reply...It was a good thing I was at the interview..I was able to go directly to DAS from the

Embassy and get it taken care of..I can imagine the headache it would have been had I not been there and they asked for this from me.

They are telling us we need to buy a PIN from Banco Colpatria to bring the documents in.. Is this considered a second interview? If so at this point does Maria get the visa approval? The relacionship evidence was sufficent..It was just this DAS certificate they wanted. So I assume this is not considered AP.. Am I correct?

it is not an AP, the visa is considered on hold until you give them the document request, for that reason is necessary another interview and you have to buy a PIN to get a new interview date, in most cases in this second chance, people get their visa

it is ok, now the DAS has systematized online to get the "Pasado Judicial". Apostille or notarized is not necessary

Yakad,

Thank you for your reply....I was not sure what the meaning of getting a PIN number was about.. I also never heard of this problem before[ the DAS Cert. for a USC ]so I did not know what was happening at this point. I will not be present at this second interview.

I hope they do not need me there. I have to work.

2 or 3 weeks is the average, the best way is calling to the embassy (only Wednesday 2-4pm)or the DOS to find out your interview date, because if you wait for your package 4 (notice of interview date) it can take more than 1 month

Edited to add:

congrats on your approval!

IMO by email, you should use one of the three possible ways: fax, email or mail. By email they will send you an acknowledgment and is faster

If they didn't tell you that you had to be there it is ok if your fiancee attend the interview. When you have to buy a PIN sometimes is possible schedule a new date even 1 week later
