Uh........ Lo Siento folks, apparently I was quite frustrated while searching for answers and when it came time to ask my question I neglected to read Ken y Leidys post above...... My bad! I read the Bogota, Colombia US Embassy / Consulate info page that was recommended and low and behold my question was answered.

Thanks for the info Ken y Leidys!

I guess y'all can disregard my previous post and chalk it up to FVPTSS or Fiancé Visa Processing Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

The twitching has subsided for the most part....

I always considered myself part of the "...Half answered question possee!":bonk: I am glad to have helped a frustrated VJ'er.

The Colombian Consulate link contains so much useful information - it must be printed and studied in order to absorb all of the information contained therein:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

My serious advice for Tech-Mo Leidy is for your fiancee to drop whatever it is that she is doing, and dedicate roughly one week to obtaining all of the required documents in order that Packet 4 will be prepared within a timely fashion. She is 110% sure that she will be marrying you and leaving her job behind, so taking time off with Packet 3 in the process of being sent off is definitely of the essence.

When Packet 3 is received by the Embassy, it is understood that all of your Packet 4 materials have already been compiled and you are just waiting around for your interview. These materials can take as much as two and a half weeks to obtain...sometimes longer due to holidays and offices with staff that gives your Fiancee the run-around. For that reason, go ahead and start your process now and get your interview materials together. Buena Suerte!

The smokestack over my left shoulder is the US Consulate - Bogota, Colombia.

From the WeLoveBogota.com Apartment, the walk to the Embassy was only 10 minutes long. A taxi would cut that amount of time to 2 or 3 minutes. Just something to keep in mind for those considering the WeLoveBogota.com accomodations.

Plaza Salitre is the closest commercial center to the US Consulate - Bogota, Colombia. Here are a few pictures of what the Salitre looks like.

Bogota is a beautiful city, and your interview should be topped off with some great sightseeing while there in town.

HI Guys, i have a quick question. We faxed the embassy in bogota the two forms from packet 3 on march 32. While i did put in an email address on the forms for a confirmation, i still have not received one. How long should i be expecting to wait for a confirmation? Or how long should i wait before i should just fax or email the forms again? I just don't want to wait another month for an interview date. I should also take this moment to thank every one who posts on here. I am posting this now only because this was the one thing i could not find the answer to this already posted. The answers posted here have been extremely helpful already. And i don't think i could have gotten this far with out the information posted here and on this site.

hi Adrian,

waiting time is relative, just today someone received confirmation from the embassy, and faxed the package 2 weeks ago!! for that reason I recommend send the pck 3 by email and in less than 24 hours they send you a acknowledgment

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

I just wanted to show people that I was actually there, and what the US Embassy and Medical Clinic look like. You can never actually tell if someone on-line has actually done what they say they did, but a picture is worth a thousand words, IMO.

I think you should wait at least a week to receive a response from the Embassy. Tomorrow and Friday are work holidays in Colombia in observation of Good Friday and Easter Sunday - 4 day weekend, amigo. :bonk:

Your Packet 3 contained your BGT#???

Being that the Embassy goes back to work on Monday - April 5th, my bet is that you will get a June Embassy appointment with all of the Expedites and returns populating the mid to late May portion of the calendar.

Packet 3 Preparation Instructions:

Packet 3 Contains: They call it 'THE INSTRUCTION PACKAGE FOR K VISA APPLICANTS' (also it's on their website)

DS-2100 (to be returned asap)

DS-230 (to be returned asap)

Information about photos (need for interview and medical exam)

I-134 (to be taken to interview)

You can down load it from there website also, which is your best option.

There have been cases that people never receive Packet 3 in the mail. If you don't get Packet 3 you can still downloaded it:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/appt-package.html (English)

http://spanish.bogota.usembassy.gov/docentrevvres.html (español)

About 5 working days after NVC sends the package to the embassy, you can contact them via e-mail to see if they received, include your case number (BGTxxxxxxxx), applicant's full name/date of birth and petitioner's full name and date of birth. (They answered me the same day.) If they got your package, go to their website and down load Package 3 (The Appointment Package -> Instruction package for Visa K (PDF)), don't wait for it to arrive in the mail. (It can take weeks for it to arrive and maybe never arrives)

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html (English)

http://spanish.bogota.usembassy.gov/docentrevvres.html(español)

Currently, the US Consulate, Bogota is processing interviews up to April 29, 2010.

system on 3-30-2010.. The same day Maria faxed the DS-230 y DS-2100 to them...I looked at page 19 of the april appointments

and our BGT # is only a handful away from the last on the April list. Mabye we will get lucky and get in for May.

And yes I was aware of the holiday schedule.. DOS told me yesterday when I called them.. We have everything ready to go but the medical. BTW how did you see the May schedule? I can only see march and April..

You can ask other Colombia Petitioners what their appointment dates are in order to guesstimate when the Embassy is making appointments. Otherwise, call DOS when you are sure Colombia has your DHL package, and you will get your specific interview date. Good luck with the process, Amigo.
