:crying: ok well i just talked to my husband and he says he got today his original documents back from the embassy - would this be the "letter" the DOS was talking about ? could this mean they are finished with the AP and dont need them anymore ? please someone shed some light ! i'm tired of the rollercoaster - i want my husband here like yesterday :ranting: sorry for ranting - i know there are so many of us going through this right now. Salaams to all of u.

Normally you get original documents back at the end of visa interview (same day). My wife got all the original documents back after her IR-1 visa interview by the CO. Her IR-1 visa interview was successful and visa was approved without AP/AR. She got IR-1 visa on her passport in couple of days.

so maybe this is good ? his interview was over four months ago; he's been in ap since then.

Skype is good and its free if both of you guys do Skype to Skype. Otherwise I personally use call4sale I think its like .07 a minute or so. Others might know of better services or cards.

I used to use Jaxtr.. but I dont think its a great service. In FL you can buy 5 dollar Florida talk cards and you get like 70 min to talk to Pakistan for $5. Other than that, my husband used to just buy the 100 rs phone cards here and call me on my Metro Pcs cell phone which is free incoming and outgoing calls, so he was the only one who had to pay. And it was only 100 rs for like 60-70 min.

Hey quick question for you guys. My fiancee just turned in packet 3.5, we are applying for the K1, and my question is does the interview letter get mailed directly to my fiancée? That is what I thought would happen, but she told me that the people at amex said that they would call her and give the interview date over the phone. Can someone clear up my confusion? I tried a search but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

She will receive her interview letter from Amex they will call her to pick it up when they get it from ISL.She will have to take the interview letter with her when she goes for the interview.

Oh I also have a couple questions about the DS230, guys.

And if so, what did you guys do about the police certificate? My wife tried and they said you cannot get a police certificate unless you get the letter from the embassy. Does that have to be sent in with the DS230 packet or can we send it in later?

Do I understand this correctly: my wife can send me a filled out DS230 now (besides the signature and the date) plus all the accompanying documents so I can send them in to the NVC from the US? I searched a lot but I couldn't find what documents exactly need to be submitted with the DS-230 packet. Also did you send certified translation of the birth and marriage certificates, or the originals?

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/infor_3195.html

We just completed and submitted our DS-230 last Friday...this is the area where we found the instructions for everything you'll need, as well as a link to Islamabad's particular preferences on paperwork....

Good Luck!

Calling US from Pakistan is much much cheaper than the other way round. If the party in Pakistan has DSL then you have better options to call Pakistan.

I am on a visit to Pakistan to spend time with my wife here and I have brought with me the majic jack.So far it is working just fine to call Pakistan and others can call us here for free. The downside is that that you have to keep your PC running to make or receive a call.

For those families separated by immigration laws,I guess you invest a little on a reliable and cost-effective way to make calls. It sure is definitely worth investing.

First off, eid mubarak to all. Hope everyone had a good eid and a good thanksgiving. So my fiancée was making her medical appointment today, and when she inquired about vaccinations, the lady making the appointment said since your applying for a k visa you don't need to worry about vaccinations. You will have to do it when you get to the states. Is this true?

yes this is true. Because she will have to do the medical again in USA. She will get the vaccinations then. They are not required for travelling. They told my husband the same thing. Good Luck, but if you can, you may wanna get teh H1N1 vaccine against Swine Flu here in PK if you can find it. Its expensive in USA and chances are after a long flight in a closed in cabin, you may get sick. Just advice.

Good luck.
