From my understanding, not that many females are put under AP, but it's a default for males to be put into AP. I'm not sure who, but I remember a few males who got out of AP in about 3.5 months...and someone else who was in 4 months, and hopefully the others who had interviews in April or May will update their time line.

Hey Guys, I am keep readings your comments about AP, i also have been passed through this immigration process, but i was lucky, i didnt get AP, i got my visa right away, they gave be back my passport after 2 hrs of my interview while i was waiting in launge. But i never heard from any body that he got visa on same day.

I got my immigration in 2005 when 99.9% cases were pass through AP, i was also prepared for AP too. One more information i want to share here, i was return from england and my record was clean, one of my friend is still leaving in UK, he got they visa right after interview without AP, actually councelor told him that you will recieved your visa after 2 weeks with passport, my friend told him that no he need passport right away as he have flight within couple of days to UK, he told them if you want to give me visa give me right away other wise return my passport, sounds funny right!!!!! he said i dont want to go USA i am settled in UK, my wife want to go, anyways after couple of hours he got visa on passport.

goodluck for your immigration process.

I totally agree Nana....r007219 ( or something close) his wife had her interview and she passed clear without AP

But 2kool4skool is male and their interview was 06/08 and visa printed 06/12. So what's up with that? Also, I am needing my husband here b4 I have my baby. We been living apart for two years and I only see him every so often-this is not fair!

:-) Hip hip hooray! Alhamdulillah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visa printed!!!!!!!!!! 08-06-09 after 4 tiring months of AP! Thanks Allah-you are the greatest!

Exactly 4 months after the interview! Amazing! :-)

the point of the matter is that it seems that AP timeframe is not as long as it used to be, but then again I don't want to speak too soon because Islamabad is unpredictable, life is unpredictable lol

I wonder if it depends on each individuals situation, for example, my husband lived in the UK for like 5 years before, and I think ppl who travel alot tend to have longer AP's? Also maybe the more common the name, the longer AP because theres more ppl on watch lists with that same name and they have to check each one to make sure its not the same guy?? Thoughts?

No one knows wat triggers lengthy AP! my fiance had zero travel history yet hewas in AP for 16 months or so.

CO determines if one needs an extensive security clearance or not! which checks to requests which not to... at times when checks r requested the applicant gets false hits cuz of common name...this requires some1 to manually lookup the applicant thus it takes longer

some have shorter AP cuz AP culd b given for missing docs, other admin work.. or not as many checks r requested thus the applicant clear in no time.

what is required under AP is only known to the embassy and is confidential due to national security reasons thus it is very mysterious and unpredictable.

I must recommend you all to be patient and wait for your turn.. if u r clean one day your significant other will get his/her visa.

lucks n duas,

At the consulate stage the AP is for the applicant yes. AP can happen to anyone, no matter what kind of visa you are applying for. The good thing is, in your case, the applicant is a female and females don't get AP as often as men...Good luck!

I just called DOS to get a status on my husband's AP.The lady said "Your husband has been just recently interviewed, the case is forwarded to Washington and it is pending" My question,Is this something they do with all AP cases.I thought the embassy does all the checks, probably I am wrong, but I am so not familiar with this AP process.

Thanks for sharing your experience in advance....

No, they send it back to the states for the security checks. I think like the FBI and other federal agencies do it, which is why they send it back here. I hope ur AP goes quickly and keep us all updated.

AP at the consulate level is for the beneficiary, yes.

In VERY RARE cases, the petitioner undergoes AP too. That's what happened in our case and we got our visa THREE YEARS after applying. My husband's name hit a red flag right after we got our NOA1 (he's the USC) and our case was stuck with the FBI/one of these agencies for over two years. I know of at least three other cases who went through the same thing.

But since it's EXTREMELY rare, no one really needs to worry about it. As the beneficiary, I got the visa right after the interview, without any AP...

ok, so open question for all to brainstorm at...

if applicant has previously lived in US, would the AP be longer or shorter?

Probably it will be longer as they will have more to look at now, like that person's history and where abouts in US.

But again you never know......every thing is unpredictable....so just hope for the best always :)
