hi and asslam o alaikum,

we recieved our visas today.right after 2 weeks of submitting the papers(affidavit of support by a joint sponsor, and birth certificate original etc) on the grounds of which we were refused visa on the day of interview.

the whole family(my parents and me and my brother) recieved the visas.

my prayers for all those who are still stuck in the process.i hate it

but there is still a little bit of confusion

they also gave us packages which we are not to open but to submitt at the airport we arrive at.just like we were not allowed to open medical papers.

can anybody tell us

is it normal???

Congratulations once again Saran,

Yes, this is normal. It is the so called mystery brown envelope and it holds all your paperwork that was ever submittted as well as your medical results. The officer at the POE will open it and then send it to filed away here in the USA. Have a safe trip to home.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Congrats for the visas.

When you arrive at the POE, you will be hand-carrying your Mysterious Brown Envelope that the Consulate gave you. DO NOT OPEN. It contains all your visa paperwork from petition through interview and must be opened by your inspecting officer.

Praying for everyone.

hi fellow vj' ers, hope all of you are doing good. I appeared for my immigration interview on the ir1/cr1 category as the benefeciary on 20 th may 2008 (almost a year ago) and was told that my visa has been approved but can not be issued at this time and was given a blue paper and a peice of sticker pasted on my passport which was given back to me.

The waiting time started which was a bit frustrating in the beggining but I have got used to it as time has passed. The good thing is that my wife has been here with me throughout and hasn't returned back to the US since our wedding so I haven't really been bothered about the waiting but still I know it is a very tough thing and can relate to the people who are going through this agonizing wait.

Just today we received a call from the islamabad embassy which unfortunatly I wasn't able to receive. The message delivered to me was that I have to submitt my police certificate , medical report and copies of my passport.

Could anybody of you please guide me what it is all about and what I have to do. I had submitted 2 police certificates one where I lived previously ( haven't lived there for 10 years now) and one for my current residence area. Would I have to resubmitt both or just the current one.

Would be really grateful if someone could guide me through this.

My prayers and sincere wishes are with all of u. God bless.

Cheers

Syed

Syed,

Police cert expires after 3-6 mons. You must re-do all and re-submit to ISL w/your passport.

Same goes for medical.

When you say 'copies' of your passport you mean the actual passport?? If they didn't retain your passport at the interview, then you must submit the passport along w/expired docs.

good lucks and have a safe journey!

As I mentioned I wasn't there to receive the call myself, and could only get the message through my uncle who was at the house. He was mentioning copy of the passport so I was confused as well because copies don't make sense as they already must be in posession of passport copies which hasn't expired .

I actually tried calling the embassy as well but it had been late by then, so would do it on monday.

In the meantime if all of you folks could guide me on this. Should I consider this as a good news and assume that ap is over?

Also please guide me on whether I would have to redo both the police certificates or just the latest ones.

Your feedback and guidance will be really appreciated

Regards....syed

syed_05,

You will need to submit the original passport if it is still in your possession. They would not need copies of it and think the messenger may not of understood them. Police reports are only good 3 - 6 months and if they asked for updated information you need to provide them from all places just like you did originally. Revived was telling you correctly in her post and the medical is good for one year from the date it took place.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Revived sister you did not reply his this question.

Well Syed if u r still living in the same place and you did not change ur locatioon then you just only need to get your new 1 police certificate, mentioning ur present home adress.

You dont need to resend 2 Police certificate.Coz now your present living adress will be count.

Hope it will be helpfull for u.

Praying for everyone.

Thanks a lot sibtain for your reply, that's what I was thinking as well because I have not changed my address since my interview and have been living in rawalpindi, my 2nd police certificate from the other city has the same dates cuz it was a long time ago so I was thinking on the same lines as sibtain bhai has guided me.

Anyways does this mean that AP is over and they are about to issue visa?

Regards

Syed

I did answer your question. I said 'do all' again meaning do both certificates again. since both have expired. It doesn't make much sense maybe but u dunno what ISL wants. for the sake of completeness i highly recommend you send both. you dun want any more delay. for the safe side do both !

best you email ISL and ask, they will respond w/in a day or two regarding such an issue. I emailed them just last week and they responded to me w/in few hours! If they don't i wuld recommend you send BOTH!

again i wuld say wait for mary to respond to this=)

As for AP being over, you will be in AP until visa stamped on passport and in your hand. so if you call DOS they might say you r still in AP.
