Calling Islamabad Embassy v 3

Salaam,

My wife's visa was approved today. Her interview was short but she was at the embassy for a while just waiting for her turn, and also they were apparently having issues with the fingerprinting machine. The interview was only 2 minutes. All they asked was how we met, if we were related (we are distant cousins), and really not much else. They didn't even look at pictures or anything else that my wife had taken. In fact, my wife thinks she saw a document with "approved" written on it even before her interview, so that was weird. Anyways, I just hope she will get her passport soon (they said 10 days). We have a flight scheduled, hopefully won't have to move it back. I'll post more details once I get them all.

Thanks everyone for your help and support!

Salaam,

What your wife probably saw was the I-130 petition front cover with the red letters "APPROVED". The consular has this readily available at the interview. Usually people think the CO has made the decision before the interview because of seeing such a document, but it is actually the forms that were approved when you filed with USCIS and these forms as you know are forwarded to NVC, then consulate--where she saw them.

Congratulations on the approval by the way!

Wassalam,

MARM

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Hi Everyone

I need to get a copy of Waheed's passport but the instructions say "the copy must be certified by the issuing agency or notarized by a United States notary public. Foreign notaries are acceptable if they attach an Apostille to the notarized document as outlined in the Hague Convention."

HUH ?

What do we need to do to get this copy of his passport? :help:

I need this for his ITIN number for the IRS. The IRS sent me a letter and said I have to respond within 45 days. Waheed lives in Karachi. Does the embassy in Karachi have a notary? What is the "issuing agency" for pakistani passports? He cannot get an Apostille because Pakistan is not on the list of countries. So our only options would be if the US embassy in Karachi does notary or getting a certified copy from the "issuing agency". Grrr .. :help:

Is it just me or do all governmental agencies ... %@#$%& :hehe:

If you know someone who is a notary here that will sign it here for you with out looking at the orignal then have him scan the passport and send you the img. That is what i did for that but only if you know a notary.
