@ Vi - Eek about VCF!!! When I was using it, I was also using the minipill in conjunction. I will NEVER just use VCF (thanks for sharing, reminds me never never never do it !).

@ Nessa - You are almost there! Can't wait to see Ben.

@ Tracy - Happy bday to Drew :)

Declan and hubby got home tonight. Declan was great - so excited to see mommy. He kept hugging me.

@Staashi: What a cute little guy. Congratulations again.

@Tracy: So good to hear from you here again. How have you been doing? Happy belated birthday Drew.

@BC: I'm on the Minipill (Nor QD) and doing just fine. No spotting or bleeding whatsoever.

As for us. We've been in Germany for three days now and finally now my kiddos are starting to sleep at night again. They were up the nights before, driving me nuts and then sleeping until noon. Well, they tried but I'd wake them up at 10am the latest and tried to stick with a regular routine. Now it's finally paying off. Adam has been out for about 12 hours now...yeah me. It is so cold here though, compared to Texas temps. We had to go get booties and Jackets for Allie. I also found a couple of cute little hats.

Allie is starting to crawl. She is not sitting up or rolling over much but she's trying to crawl, lets see when she's taking off.

Hi Ladies!!!

Well, it took a little time but I'm back. :star:

Things have been crazy to say the least. After 3 days in labor, I had to have an emergency c-section to save Enzo. He is doing fantastic now but he was in the NICU for 5 days. I could go into the drama and the trauma of it all, but I don't want to scare anyone. So for now, let's just say that I have been recovering nicely - sore sometimes but it is quite manageable. Furthermore, because I was a walking fool for most of my pregnancy I was able to get my footing quickly. It has helped tremendously because I just want to walk and move about, although I still take it easy. :innocent: I weighed myself yesterday and I'm down 25lbs from when I went in to deliver him - my OB will be beside himself.

Enzo is too cute and we just love to stare at him - sometimes we can't believe that he's ours. He was 6lbs 15ozs and 20.5 inches long.

Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers and thoughts - I appreciate every single one of them.

P.S. - Caro, I think the Argentine-American baby looks pretty good. :blush::whistle:

Yay you're back!!! Congrats!! I'm sorry the delivery wasn't easy, but I'm happy you're all doing good and recovering

And Enzo is such a cutie!! esa trompita por dios me lo como a besos!!!!!!!

How did you come up with the name Enzo? I love it!

Caro

Hi everyone!! Ive barely had the chance to get on but I can never seem to keep up with this thread! haha..

I've had my ultrasound and found out that im having a boy...Im so excited now especially the fact that Im feeling him move so often throughout the whole day and even at night...I wonder when does he ever get to sleep  ...

We've been stalling our paperwork after receiving the NOA2. It expires in June and Im hoping for a May interview to receive the visa. Since I give birth in August, Im hoping that I can stay here until Oct 31 - this is my move date to the US. Its just really upsetting that my family will only be able to spend two months with the little man before we move :( but oh well, what can u do...

So here's the deal...baby's due in August...Im trying to be at work until end of July *fingers crossed* then go on maternity leave....I'll be on one year maternity leave and one year career break but only 16 weeks paid leave out of the two years.

Im just worried to be flying from Sydney, Australia all the way to NY with a two month old....Its a 14 hour flight to LA..stopping over for 2 hours then direct from LA to NY...i heard that the best time to fly is when the baby is from 2 months to < 1 yr as all they do is sleep most of the flight...but still worried about the effects it will have on the baby?? Any suggestions??? oh and by the way..

@staashi - your baby is soooo cute!!!!

@nessa - cant believe you've only got a couple more days left until Ben arrives!!

Ive been having weird dreams myself...and I had a dream last night that my baby girl had blue eyes and looked EXACTLY like the dad..and when the "dad" came to the hospital - it was Robin Williams  ...Im having a boy mind you and my SO is puerto rican and black and Im spanish/filipina ....so we definitely wont be having a baby with blue eyes..THAT was weird...it would be one thing if I actually thought Robin Williams was a stud muffin but nooo....not my type!

@ MzMo -- YAY for a boy!:D You and I are neck-and-neck. Wonder who will pop first? As for the flying, I watched a couple fly across the ocean with an infant who must have been two or three months old. They had a bassinet attached to the bulkhead, and the baby never made a sound. From time to time, one parent or the other would hold the baby for a while. It all seemed so peaceful, and I was kind of jealous of their seatmates -- I wanted a turn holding him! I have read that if you can nurse or get the baby to take a bottle or paci during takeoff and landing, that helps a lot with any ear discomfort from the pressure change, but I haven't heard of any ill effects of flying that young.

@ Nessa -- Getting so close! You're in my thoughts. Hope you're feeling good.

We live on a second-floor apartment. My parents live less than a mile from us. My mom wrote me today that the doctor won't want me to climb stairs after the delivery, and that hubby, baby, and I should move in with them for a few days afterward. I'm wondering if that has been others' experience with stairs right afterward. I've read mixed stories, but most accounts I can find were that new mothers did do some limited stair-climbing if necessary unless they had torn badly, had problems with damaged pelvic joints, or in some cases had a c-section. I'm grateful for the offer, and although I would prefer to be at home, personally, I'm pretty flexible, and I realize I'll probably not be doing much more anyway than nursing (hopefully), changing diapers, and trying to sleep for the first few days. But hubby's very much a home-is-his-castle guy, and I'm trying to look out for his adjustment too -- I know he wants to be be very involved with caring for the baby and me, but it will be easier for him to do that in his own space with his stuff around him, the whole caveman thing :) So just trying to be diplomatic here.

On another note, I'm starting to have some twinges in that lower pelvic joint, the symphysis pubis joint I guess. I understand that hormones make the cartilage soften up there so the pelvis will be more flexible during delivery, so I assume a few twinges are normal, and I enjoy seeing new signs that the pregnancy is progressing. It's not a strong, long-lasting pain, and I usually only feel it if I get up after sitting at work for a couple of hours. But I've read anecdotes about temporarily incapacitating damage to that joint during delivery and that if there's pelvic pain during pregnancy, a woman should limit movement of that joint (to the point of no stirrups during exams or delivery, etc). I'm just wondering how normal the twinges are, and if there's an exercise or anything else I should be doing to limit damage to that joint during delivery. I'll see my doctor on Tuesday and ask her then, but I was wondering about others' experiences.

(L) to the new mommies and babies.

Ladies - thanks! He is too cute and doing really well. He's been suffering from gas though - a friend of ours from Arg sent some gas drops and they've been a lifesaver!

@ Caro - we came up with Enzo while looking at a website for Italian names - Vittorio was his great-grandfather.

@ Vi - we're sleeping, sometimes more than others.

@ Nessa - I gained 17lbs total. But I was on constant monitoring.

@ Caybee - I would think that the stairs thing depends on how your body is after birth ... as you said, there may be more limitations if you had a C section, tore a lot, etc. For me, we have a 2 story house. I didn't tear during delivery and was feeling okay. I took it slow going up and down and tried to limit stair climbing at first, but my doc did not give me any prohibitions.

@ MzMo - Congrats on the boy! I don't know about flying that young, but my son Declan flew to Canada with his dad when he was about 10 months and it went well. He drank a bottle on take off and didn't cry at all and didn't have problems with his ears. I had also read that either breast or bottle feeding was helpful on takeoff and landing, and it did work in Declan's case.

Nessa - let them pamper you - you will need it. Nothing feels as good as that first shower the day after. Take it very easy on yourself but I will say this - push through the pain and walk...it will get your body stimulated again.
