@Mrs Jibowu: So sorry for your loss (F)

@chnst: Thank you for the info :)

Other news: March 26th is our next appointment, first at the birthing center (midwife).

Justin's aunt and uncle got for us the baby gift of the month club, I thought it was so sweet! We came home to a lot of flowers and a basket of baby stuff :luv:

Saludos,

Caro

yeah the belly cast would be so cool now but it would probably collect dust in the future, nowhere to put it.

i suppose it could always be used as a birdbath.

I guess the cast is good when you don't know who it belongs to but just the thought of me showing my parents our bedroom and there's a lifesize cast of my belly plus boobs hanging on the wall with some flowers on it....naaahhhhh...don't really want to have to explain that. :innocent:

glad to hear you're feeling better :)

I didn't mention on this thread i think, but now that i have a c/s schedules i'm eligible for leave donation. I doubt i'll get any, but at least i can request. So far i only have 80 hours of leave accumulated, so 1 paycheck. Then 10 weeks not only unpaid, but i'll have to pay life insurance.

@JVKn'CVO: good luck on your appointment. :)

when i first knew i'd have a cesarean i was excited, not with the c/s, but kowing when the baby is coming. it looked real, you know, he's almost here. but then i started to think of everything i'll be missing. i'll never experience labor pain (yeah, crazy, i know), i'll never have to push and swear like a sailor for hours  i won't have that OMG it's time, the contractions are few min apart and i gotta rush to the hospital :P

I never had the OMG....lets go to the hospital thing either. It's ok. There's such a big hype about bonding with baby and how you cannot bond when you have a C/S because your body doesn't make these hormones since you skip the whole labor part. Bonding is a lifelong process, it doesn't happen when you have a c/s or a vaginal birth. Now, I didn't 'care' for Adam in the beginning because I think I was kinda in shock after the birth and I had so much to do with recovering and trying to figure everything out. WIth Allie...she came out blue and not breathing for a while, her heartrate down for over 6 minutes and even though she was a vaginal birth...I didn't even ask how she was doing. She was there but I didn't know her, I didn't feel attached at that moment. It all happened later, once you get to hold them and feed them, that's when the real bonding starts.

I was excited when they told me that Allie will be born on August 11th (I had a repeat c/s scheduled) but it kinda wore off over the days and my OB cancelled the surgery.

so i'm reading about babies, and i didn't know u have to give them a bath only once or twice a week. i would do it every day, like we're supposed to bathe every day.

and oh man, i'll have to get on my knees and wash him inside the bathtub after the surgery. that sounds painfull.

and yes, he'll be in a baby tub that'll be inside our bath tub

In the grand scheme of things, once hte baby is here personally I dont think you will fret much over that. I didnt have those 'moments' really with either of my kids and I certainly dont feel less a 'mother' or a 'woman'.

as for the bathing, you cant submerge them in the tub or do anything other than sponge baths until the cord falls off and probably by then you will feel like bending over or kneeling at the tub - its usually a couple of weeks. but they really dont need a bath daily until a few months old, or at least until they start enjoying it. Once Amirah was about 3 months ( I think) she began to enjoy it so we made it part of our end of day wind down period. Prior to that bathtime is often accompanied by a lot of screaming and you may not find yourself all that eager to do it daily.

I gave Kavi his baths on the kitchen counter, I just put his bathtub on there. I still do actually, it's a big bathtub that had a different piece for newborn and now is like a mini-tub. If you have room you can do that. You are not going to be able to bend down for a couple weeks or more after your c-section I don't think, it took me 3 weeks to sleep on my side again with no pain....and it's true, I didn't give him a bath every day, for awhile. Sometimes you think about doing something but don't actually have the time or energy to do it, LOL.

And I DID have that "have to get to the hospital now" moment, with painful contractions less than 5 mins apart, to be only 2 cm's dilated and sent home after a few hours in very bad pain. Still can't believe it.

Don't worry, you are not missing out. I got to have the extremely long back labor and c-section. I know you might wonder what it's like, since you won't have it, unless maybe who knows! You might end up having a contraction at some point before your scheduled c-section. But overall, I think your body will be more rested and able to heal faster by not going through labor only to end up with a c-section anyway. Keep staying positive and it will help. :)
