hey, has any of you done a belly cast?

here's what i was told you can do it:

go to the art/craft store (hobby lobby) and buy rolls of plaster of paris guaze for about $3 a roll. you apply vaseline all over so the mold comes off easily. stand up over a beach towel and have someone cut strips of plaster guaze, dip it in water and apply one layer at a time. it will dry pretty quick. afterward, you can paint it and hang it with ribbon!

i'm thinking about doing it. now all i have to do is find a craft store.

Thanks for all the replies.... I will pass the info onto my girlfriend.

My friend told me that her daughter had a very long, hard labor and ended up having a tear, so that's probably what caused it. But my friend says her daughter literally has no control, and pees and poops herself all the time, it's not just a trickle or anything.

She had the baby on Saturday, so it's been less than a week and my friend said her daughter will see her doctor next week if it hasn't improved.

Just an update. Today's ultrasound was very good. All organs looked normal. Baby is measuring at 19 weeks 4 days, so still about a week ahead of the estimate based on LMP, but they are keeping the due date at August 16th. They did a quad screen since they weren't confident enough in the accuracy of the due date to do the NT scan a few weeks back, so we'll wait for those results. The baby weighs about 11 ounces, and the placenta is well out of the way now, so no more previa. Aaaand we're having a boy! He had his fingers in his mouth and was chomping away.

@Nessa: I have a belly cast from when I was pregnant with Adam. It's collecting dust in my MILs closet.

@Chrissy: Might have been a stomach bug. Sounds like what I had when I was pregnant with Allie. I ended up going to the hospital cause I started having contractions.

bellycast: It's a cool project to spend time when you're pregnant but what the heck are you supposed to do with it? It's weird to have it laying around or worse, hanging on the wall.... I don't know... not my thing. I like belly pictures better. I guess its a nice way to pass time when you're pregnant and bored.

Exactly chnst. I wouldn't want to hang it in the living room or bedroom, neither in the kid's rooms...that's why it is still in my MILs closet.

yeah the belly cast would be so cool now but it would probably collect dust in the future, nowhere to put it.
