@ Nessa .... I like the #1 glider too. I have the same carseat you have (because I liked that the weight limit was higher). It is a bit bigger than the other carseats and I was always jealous of my friends who seemed to be carrying their babies in the carseat with ease (and I tried carrying their babies and it was lighter than carrying my baby in his carseat). I just told myself that it was a good arm workout

@ Carolyn ... We started out with the Medela bottles too and loved them. When it was time for a larger bottle, I decided to try a fairly inexpensive brand first to see how Declan did, rather than spend a lot of money on bottles. Gerber has a BPA free bottle that has worked fine for us. I also tried Parent's Choice brand (also BPA free) from WalMart, but the bottles were in colored plastic rather than clear and in the middle of the night, it was harder to read the ounces on it.

Well, Declan was sick last week with a stomach bug and a head cold at the same time, poor baby. I got the stomach bug too, got over it on Thursday and began with the head cold then. Today, I think I am developing conjuctivitis. ARGH! I have scrubbed down any surfaces I have touched and have been washing my hands constantly, also avoiding touching my eyes. I really don't want Declan to get it. Anyone have any suggestions on what else I can do to prevent him from getting it?

I cant imagine having kept zaid in an "infant carseat" past 8 months. its a pain in the butt to get them in and out of. We switched to a convertible car seat as soon as zaid was big enough to sit in the front of grocery baskets by himself (bout 6 months) the carrier was so convenient for shopping when he couldnt sit up yet.

I love and swear by playtex drop ins. I have never had a leak, NEVER and the only part that needs washing is the nipple.

That's what I'm gonna do with Allie. As soon as she can sit up unassisted without falling over a lot, we'll put her in the convertible seat. I can't wait.

I have bought some stuff there. I don't know for how much they buy the clothes. I usually sell my clothes at garage sales. You can make really good money with kids clothes at a garage sale.

We'll definitely go shopping for bargains for our baby. Anything we can save at the beginning helps, and with kids growing so fast I think it's a great idea :star: OUAC looks great, we'll have to check it out when we start shopping.

I'm 8 weeks today, yay!

Hubby is driving me crazy, he is so difficult with girls names!! I was going through all the names yesterday on a baby names web site, and no luck. I hope we can find one we both like

I got myself a little treat yesterday: a starters kit from Erba organics mommy to be, I loved it!!!

yay for 8 weeks, Caro. Do you like any name at all? What kind of name you have in mind? american? First thing I considered when I chose the name was if it was possible to pronounce and be spelled in both languages the same way without people having difficulties and without them asking how is that spelled, or how is that pronounced?

About Zaid being in the grocery basket at 6 months, that soon they can sit by themselves? I'm really lost when it comes to baby :P i guess i'll be one of those crazy moms that bring an antibacterial spray and spray then entire grocery basket before putting my son in there

The carseat with your travel system will fit nicely in most grocery carts. I had the same system (different color). I would just unhook the carseat from the base and clip it in where the child sits in the cart. That way I didn't have to worry about cleaning the cart or waiting for him to be able to sit up. He was also safely buckled, much more so than the flimsy belts that are provided on the cart. And he was up higher, where I could see him better while shopping. We also had clipped some toys to the handle with those plastic "chain" clips, so he had toys to amuse himself in the store without worrying that he would drop them and then be dirty. When he outgrew the Snugride, he was definitely old enough to sit in the cart. So we used it until he was around a year old. He didn't mind at all, he was used to it.

it snaps right on, start looking at other people in the stores with babies and you will see it soon. works really well.

as far as bottles, I am also a big big fan of the playtex drop ins. by far the easiest to clean.

Ohhoo, my oldest sister is pregnant with her first!!! Due date August 2nd! :)

Infant car seats: Jona was too big for it way before he hit 20 pounds. At 15 pounds we had to buy a new carseat, which is the Britax Boulevard. It can be turned forward facing once he hits a certain weight limit (I think he already did), but we'll keep it rear facing as long as he will tolerate. Forward facing it supports up to 65 pounds. That's pretty good.

You really don't want to put the infant seat on top of the small thing of the shopping cart. Our carseat came with a HUGE warning about it. IT's not considered safe, the seat could fall off and all manufacturers advise strongly against it. We put the seat just inside the shopping cart and the groceries all around, on the bottom etc. It's a little more hassle, but it is safer - and safety is my main concern with my little man :)

@ Nessa: We have a cushioned glider. So much more comfy, and it goes with the living room furniture. Jona's crib is in our room, so when I feed him at night, I just take him to our bed. So the glider is only used throughout the day.

@ Bottles: Check out your local Babies'r'us. Ours has a huge sign that all their bottles are now BPA free. So check out all the bottles they have - it's quite a lot I think. I also think Walmart stopped selling BPA baby products, at least they claim that. I would research that fact though online first.

Arrgh I'm trying to buy the Nuby chain teether. It's hard to come by. Many Sassy products contain BPA. The Nuby teether is available at diapers.com, but I don't wanna pay $4.99 shipping... Has anyone seen it in retail stores?

@ Nessa - Our Safe Seat carseat did not fit well on top of the shopping carts, it was too big and too precarious. My friend who had a SnugRide found that her carseat fit there fine ... just the differences between the 2 carseats in size. Like Anna, I ended up putting the baby in his carrier in the basket and then putting food around him. Or I convinced my hubby to come shopping with me and then we had 2 carts

When your baby is big enough to sit unassisted, you can buy a shopping cart cover to sit the child in so you don't have to scrub down every inch of the cart

Here's an example:
