I could have sworn that I posted here earlier but it doesn't show.

I was writing about indcution. Sara pretty much said it all. I just wanted to add - and I'm not trying to be a party pooper again - that induction often ends up in a c/s since labor is pressured and moms body is usually not ready for labor. It happened to me too (and I wish I would have known about the downside of induction before I went in to have it done). I had the Cervadil, Adam's heartrate went down to 90bpm (normal is 120bpm - 140 bpm) and they had to put me on Pit. Once you are on Pit you can't eat anymore (in case you have to have a c/s and you might throw up...so they assume that you might end up in a c/s once they give you the pit), you might not be allowed to get up anymore (I had to BEG the nurse to let me stand up because I couldn't lay down no more) and contractions hit you so much harder, putting more stress on the baby. A lot of times you end up with stalled labor (often happens whit Pit and then an epidural) and eventually you are wheeled into the OR.

BUUUUUUUUUT

I've read stories of successful inductions, where only one dose of cervadil was given and the cervix was so ripe and squishy after 12 hours that the baby wanted out. So it doesn't necessarily end in a c/s.

Whatever you decide to do, don't agree on taking anything that is called cytotec...too dangerous. There have been stories of placental abruptions out there...it scares the living hell out of me hearing that it is used by doctors even though it is not even approved for use in pregnant women. http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/features/cytotec.html

Cytotec, if I remember correctly, is a chemotherapy drug that has also been used in chemical abortions, especially prior to RU-486. It's harsh. I don't trust it either.

@ Vi: Sofia's little ultrasound pic is so precious. I'm sure you can't wait to meet her. You think your husband is in love now! :luv:

It amazes me to think our baby will be smaller than our male cat and probably larger than his little sister. I'm becoming convinced that they both know what's going on. Little sis kitty has been doing this for a while, but now both of them will lie on or near my stomach and just purrrr. I wonder if the baby can hear or feel it, and I wonder if it's soothing. It's soothing to me anyway. :)

Nessa@ I've been having a similar pain and my belly button looks all bruised, dark brown and purple, I have to ask my doc about it on tuesday.

Caybee@ thank you , we love that pic of Sofi, we sent it everywhere, and it's amazing that she was just 8.5cm at that time (4 months)

Lots of good energy for little Ben, I can imagine as a mommy how are you feeling seeing your baby in pain (F) .

6 more weeks to meet my little one , I wanted to have the crib set up today but hubby is too busy taking A NAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bonk: why are men like that??? ( not all men of course)

gotta go girls, my belly is hungry and today we are having tacos!

hugs

Vi

@Vi: The brown and purple coloring is normal. It's just hormones that make your skin darker. I had the linea negra up to my bellybutton and even up to my ribs with Adam and the area around my belly button also looked purple and brown. Not pretty but it will go away after birth. You can still see my linea negra though. That might take a little longer.

@ Chsnt - Oh poor Ben and poor you for having to watch that. I hope the gastroenterologist can offer a solution. Much love to you both (F)

@ Vi - MY hubby was working on finishing our master bedroom when my waters broke. Not sure what possessed us to start a major renovation (the room had been totally unfinished, so he had to lay drywall, install flooring, build a closet, etc.). Of course, he was also slacking a bit until a month before the baby was due. So when I told him my waters had broken, he replied, NO! I still have 3 more weeks to finish this room! Of course, all the furniture for our bedroom was in the baby's room, and so crammed full you could barely walk in it, so of course, NOTHING was set up for the baby. At least you have gotten to d a lot in the nursery! LOL
