question: did you or will you wash all the baby stuff? i've been reading on the pregnancy board most of the women are washing everything the baby will get in contact, i mean everything, all the clothing, bedding, toys, car seats, stroller, pillow, everything. i think it's a bit exaggerated. i was going to do only the bedding and clothing.

I think I just did the bedding and clothing too. Didn't do stroller/carseat, etc.

Many things are over hyped in my opinion.

I washed everything (except stroller and carseat, like Christina) but thats also because I wash everything when I first buy it, clothes, sheets, blankets, etc. I like it all to have my laundry smell and be a little softer and all of that. but I think thats just personal preference, not a necessity.

@ Nessa: The cartoons are priceless.

I'll wash baby clothes and blankets once or twice and cloth diapers two or three times to soften them up. I probably won't be washing plush toys. I'll wipe down other things with a Clorox wipe to get any residue from the manufacturing process, but I don't plan to do much more than that.

I received a box today from my youngest sister with a baby's Winnie the Pooh quilt inside. I don't yet know if she made it herself, but she included some extra fabric for other projects. I hadn't thought much about the baby's room to this point, but that gift sure got the wheels turning.

We may learn the baby's gender next Thursday. I'm already getting excited. :)

any preferences? boy or girl?

My husband says he doesn't have a preference, but I suspect he's hoping for a boy. I don't have a preference, but my family and I (and my husband) all get the feeling it's a girl. Whenever I try to imagine one or the other, I get a vision of the child at 15 and I get scared :)

I have a question for all of you. (no I'm not expecting a child, I'm just curious and I love to read about you girls)

Did you all want to know the gender of your baby before he was born? It seems that nowadays nobody wants to have the surprise at birth anymore.

In the beginning, I wanted it to be a surprise. Now, I guess I just want to know everything there is to know about the baby. Also, I want to use real pronouns instead of adding slashes to everything.

Hi mommies!

About washing: one thing I know, and is that we will keep clothes in their original package and with receipt until the baby is born, in case we need to return anything (doesn't fit, not the right weather, etc)

About diapers: We are going disposables all the way.

About baby's gender: No preferences here. We want one of each so this one can be whatever. The pressure will be on the second one :)

Can't wait to find out though, so we can start shopping for the baby!

This week was funny. So I already had a little bump, but I swear I woke up one morning and I had grown overnight. My boss thinks the baby may have turned or something, but suddenly...I look pregnant :star:

Saludos,

Caro

I was induced with my first one because he was almost 3 weeks overdue. My doctor decided to induce after a few nonstress tests and also right at the end I started to head towards diabetes/toxemia. Believe me, those were some LONG weeks.... Finally I went in one morning and they put in some cervadil to soften /ripen the cervix, then a few hours later started the pitocin IV. apparently my little guy just wanted to stay put, because 52 hours and 3 bags of pitocin later he was still there and had to be pulled out with forceps. I BEGGED for a c-section but no, my doctor didnt believe in c-sections. However, I think most people who are induced have a much quicker result :P
