@ Nessa: hehehe funny!

@ Luis&Laura: Formaldehyde is usually in new clothes, especially if they are made in China (which most baby clothes are). I forget why they put it n there, but it's there (just read here http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/article/4...dehyde-clothes). And it's not good. It is easy to just wash clothes before you wear them. I wash plush toys prior to use because they have formaldehyde too. After the initial wash they only get washed if they are dirty (which hasn't happened yet).

@ Zaidsmommy: Hm I would ask the ped... I know they generally say 12 months before cow's milk.

Hey, I never said that I'll be leaving. :D .

@Chnst: Why did they say for you to switch to 2%? I always thought babies should stick with whole milk as they need the fat for brain growth. My pedi told me to stick with whole milk until his 2nd birthday. I'm now buying 2% every now and then but I still prefer whole milk. Adam was about 11 months I think when we started him on milk at all.

@Kelly: at the 10 month check up our pedi gave the green light for 2% cows milk and yogurts. Ben doesn't like milk much and he is so constipated now, that we have to go in for a weekly enema now. :(

Earths best baby food has a prune and oatmeal cereal that REALLY does the trick too :P

Nessa those are so funny!

I'm washing all the baby clothes ,sheets and comforters but not the toys. I don't want any stuffed animals for Sofia, too much dust and maybe allergies...

Nessa, those jokes very really good! I showed them to hubby.

BTW Do you have the bedroom ready??? I want to have everything this weekend but Sil is sooooooooooooo lazy.

take care girls!

@Vi: We're not too crazy about stuffed animals either but there'll be a few in the end. I'm allergic to dust so I try to limit them. Washing them every now and then helps or you can put them in the freezer. I just don't have the heart to throw some away.

Hey ladies, I have a question about the milk. I haven't started Declan on milk yet, but he is fast approaching his first birthday. Right now, his formula is Enfamil. I saw in the store they have a Next Step formula for babies from 9 months on. Is this even worth it or should I just transition him to milk at a year?

And I just need to vent .... normally I really like his daycare, but recently, they have been switching around the staff so sometimes in the infant room, other staff members are watching the babies (not the 2 lovely ladies I am used to). Tonight, I was looking at the record of what Declan ate and drank today. According to the sheet, he ate twice (of course, they didn't list what he ate, but I have supplied them with Stage 3 jars so I assume those) and for drinking, all that was listed was juice. No formula at all! I am annoyed because: 1. I never gave them permission to give him juice. I limit the juice he has right now, as I want him to get most of his nutrients from food and formula. I am not completely against juice, I just don't want him ONLY drinking juice and not any formula, as it appears he did today. 2. Why didn't they give him ANY formula? Obviously, I have to call them in the morning, I was just annoyed tonight when reading thr sheet and had to vent.

my own personal opnion dpnt bother with the next step stuff, its just a marketing ploy, switch him to whole milk, it still has more fats and is better than the "next step" stuff

question: did you or will you wash all the baby stuff? i've been reading on the pregnancy board most of the women are washing everything the baby will get in contact, i mean everything, all the clothing, bedding, toys, car seats, stroller, pillow, everything. i think it's a bit exaggerated. i was going to do only the bedding and clothing.

I think I just did the bedding and clothing too. Didn't do stroller/carseat, etc.

Many things are over hyped in my opinion.

lol i don't wash everything before i wear, just underwear :P

same here

I didn't wash any plush toys that I can remember. And I used generic "free and clear" detergent for the first few months then just used regular detergent. Didn't buy any expensive detergents or anything expensive at all related to having a baby LOL. I am a bargain shopper and not a brand-name only person. Kavi is doing fine all this time later.

@vi: we're still finishing remodeling downstairs. we had a family room that we never used and that needed some work, like the ceiling, new doors, carpet, etc and we're transfering things from the baby's room there. yesterday we put the furniture in the baby's room, tomorrow charles will paint it and we'll see what else can be done in the bedroom by this weekend.

by next weekend we can mount the crib and i can start washing stuff and putting away in the baby's dressers.

i'll be 36 weeks next weekend and i'm starting to get nervous about things not being ready yet. that's the weekend that one way or another i want things done.
