We have a Graco travel system too and I love it. We got the Safe Seat car seat, because it goes up to 30 pounds and 32 inches for the child whereas the Snug Ride only goes to 22 pounds and 29 inches long. I thought I was being so practical buying a carseat that would last longer. However, my tall skinny little boy is getting close to outgrowing it lengthwise but is not even near the max weight limit :(

Baby powder is not recommended since lots of parents do the shake with the bottle when they put it on baby's butt. That shake makes a big cloud of fine particled powder which might be inhaled by baby. If you do use powder (I use some too...it's great to get vaseline out of toddler hairs with, haha) put it in your hands first and then on baby's butt with as little dust as possible.

Other than that I pretty much agree with Anna. You don't really need a jogging stroller, if you have nowhere to jog or never jog. I don't have a nursing top. With Adam I didn't feel comfortable enough to nurse in public so I went into nursing rooms or in the car etc. With Allie I feel comfortable enough to not use any cover or nursing top. I can cover everything up pretty good. Wall decoration, arts, hampers etc...you don't really need it. Same for diaper stackers, I just feel like they are empty all the time. I don't have a diaper pail but use a regular trash can with a plastic bag that you get at the grocery store. You have to empty those out every day or every other day anyway. Also, I cloth diaper and I line that pail with a cloth bag so I can just throw everything in one wash...done.

I use burts bees baby wash. I don't know if it's organic, it smells good and doesn't have any parabens in it. DH has very sensitive skin and I'm afraid Allie has it too, she has dry skin. Olive oil or breastmilk are best for the first few months. We do have the occasional bubble bath though with the Johnson and Johnson wash, but only when Adam is in the tub too...I usually wahs both kids in the sink, so easy and no tub needed. We have a cheapo 10 dollar foldable tub which we used quite often with Adam but now I've sold it in a garage sale.

sinkbath

Good to know about the baby powder. I love the stuff for myself, but I can see how the dust could be a problem.

I'm planning to pump at work. I have an office to myself, but there's no lock -- guess I could put a DND sign on the door and brace a chair so it won't pop open on its own, but I sure don't want anyone walking in on me, and I'd rather not have a buzzing sound emanating from my office. I've thought about using the car on my lunch break, maybe even hanging a curtain between front and back (back windows are tinted). I remember a woman at my old job having to use a small storage closet because she refused to pump in the restroom (don't blame her one bit). Just trying to figure out the logistics.

Cloth diapers...I'm debating about trying to use them at home at least part of the time. My sisters and I all wore them. I remember my mom shaking the dirty ones out in the toilet before tossing them in the pail. The cloth bag for the pail sounds good.

Anyone have any suggestions for baby bottles? I've just used the Medela bottles that you can pump directly into, but they are getting a bit small (my son sometimes wants to eat more than 5 oz.). Neither my husband nor my mom has complained about leaking, but I gave him a bottle the other night instead of breast-feeding (of course he woke up just after I pumped, so I had to use that bottle) and was just soaked!

My preference would be for BPA free plastic, larger size.

@carolyn: i'm buying dr. brown BPA free, it has great reviews.

I'm still in doubt if i should buy a rocker/glider or not. If i do, it'll be one of these:

#1:

nurserywithamycoerocker.jpg

#2:

nurserywithrocker.jpg

i know, terrible photoshop :P

which one do you think goes best with the baby nursery theme. the baby room will be green, haven't decided on the shade of green yet, but something similar, but it'll be that theme u see in the picture and the furniture a bit darker.

Ha, babysat with my granddaughter last night, already 4 months old and as smart as a whip. Started reciting the alphabet, but only could get an ah out of her, B was a bit too much. Like to tease her about how she is taking control over her parents, she must know what I am talking about, because get back a chit eating, grin, LOL.

This can only go on for two hours at the most, then she gets tired with the ear bursting cry. Just something different last night, mimicked that cry of hers, on to get that chit eating grin back again. That went on for about five times until she finally fell asleep in my arms, aren't they precious when they are sleeping?

She is new excitement in my life, can't wait to see her again.

Wife was called on for an emergency last night at midnight, didn't come home until 5 AM this morning, woman had a still birth, that is sad. Wife said that woman held her dead baby and refused to let it go, so they just let her hold it.

@Nessa: I don't think you will carry a 30lbs baby in the bucket. I can hardly even get Allie in and out the car, and she's only 18lbs.

@caybee: If you give baby breastmilk or breastfeed, there's no need to shake anything out. Breastfed poop is water soluble and comes out after washing it. So, you'll have about 6 months until the shaking. I have my pail in the bathroom and shake the diapers out and then transfer them right over to the pail...no mess.

huh? it's not about carrying, it's about the maximum weight he can be to use that seat. after 30lbs i'll have to buy another seat, probably one that goes from 30-100lbs, because they say children have to have a child seat until they reach 4'9''

OK, your child will hit the height limit for the seat waaay before the weight limit. I know 2year olds that weight 22 lbs but are well above the height limit for the infant seat.

oh, and about the glider. I have the No2 style glider from the picture but I like the brown one in picture #1 better. It just looks more comfortable PLUS it's probably easier to throw babies legs over the armrests when you nurse since they are not very high. Allie always has to go into the fetal position because the armrests on my glider are higher and she can't put her legs on there.
