@Kelly: kudos to you for trying for another one! I think we are going to wait a few more years before we have another baby. I just can't imagine myself with 2 children yet. I can't believieve Zaid is eating all that stuff! Ben still only has 2 bottom teeth and he just started some soft finger foods and stage 3 jars. I sometimes feel that he is a little behind physically- he just started crawling and walking! But he has been talking for a few weeks now, so I am not too concerned. He says yes/no (in english and german), up, book, Ben, mommy, daddy, Hi, Gigi (grandma), and foo (food) :luv:

@caybee: I like Ikea. The cheap stuff might not last you forever, but the more "expensive" furniture is pretty sturdy. We bought Ben's furniture at Ikea (except the crib). His room doesn't have a closet so we bought a wardrobe and a big dresser, hoping it will last him for a while. I didn't like the baby furniture at the Baby stores and some of that stuff was expensive and flimsy.

@autum: I am glad Declan has recovered so well! Amazing what you guys have been through this past year... Maybe your hubby can do part-time study. It really isn't hard and there are so many RN's needed and the salary&pay are awesome. My school said they will let me test out on certain subjects and give me credit for that. I really don't want to do everything again...

Hi...

We got back from India yesterday. :D Meeting the family went very well, it was a great trip. They all loved Kavi to pieces.

Traveling to India with Kavi was very hellish IMO, LOL. The first couple days in India were very hard because of the time difference(10.5 hours ahead there, until daylight savings time and then it became 9.5 hours ahead). On the flight, Sujeet helped a lot and Kavi mostly slept on him. Our flight from Tampa to Newark was about 3 hours and then it was a straight 14 hour flight to India. On the way home, the flight from India was 15 hours straight. Then another trip back down to Tampa from Newark. We were so happy when we got home because of the exhausting traveling. It takes more than 24 hours in total with connecting planes.

Autumnchik-I admire your hubby for taking Declan alone! And Eveline I admire you too for doing that. It seems very hard to me.

Kavi did cry on the way to India on landing, I think his ears were hurting a lot. My jaw and ears were killing me on the descent and I had gotten over a cold recently, so had Kavi so I am sure it was that pain. He wouldn't drink a bottle during it. On the way back to the US, it went well and he didn't cry during take off or landing. :) He just got a little fussy here and there but what do you expect during a 15 hour flight.

I also am more bothered than ever by rude passengers who hate that a baby is on the plane with them. We didn't have much of an issue except our first flight to Newark, a man sat next to us and literally made a upset face when he saw we'd be sitting next to him. How sweet, eh? I now know that a child's main reason for crying is the pressure on their ears. If as an adult the pain from the pressure in the plane can make me very uncomfortable, imagine how it makes a baby feel. :(

@Stina: I hear you... When we went to Germany we had a lot of negative reactons too. I can't believe how people can be so openly rude because of a baby! Welcome back to the US! Sounds like the long flight was worth it!

I am flying to Miami next week and I am not looking forward to the flight. Thank God its only a 3 hour ride.

what diapers do you all prefer?

loooove 7th Generation, the price just went up AGAIN (they cost between $12-$16), so I am going to try out the whole foods store brand diapers. I prefer chlorine free. I don't like the chemical smell of the other diapers.

I had a U/S today - the baby is measuring 6lbs 6 ozs - all is good...he's in the 55-60 percentile on all his measurements. I'm so relieved because 4 weeks ago they told me he was 3lbs 10 ozs and that he was going to be underweight. The neonatalogist said that the readings they got the last time were bad due to poor positioning. So we're very excited that he's healthy. Also, my OB said, "Well, with such great news we can induce you at 39 weeks." I told him flat out - "Hell no! 38 it is!!!" :D I'm so over being pregnant - SOOOOOOOO OVER!!!! :ranting:

@Staashi: wow, I can't believe what people think when they feed a 6 week old ranch dressing! That's disgusting... Our neighbors tried stuffing Ben with chocolate cake the other night. I just don't get why people have such an interest in stuffing any food into babies' mouths.

LOL, I hear you. Ben was born 3 days before his due date and that was like 1 month too late!! I remember how anxious I was, I just wanted to bring that baby home!! (I kind of hoped to skip the birthing process)

I am very loyal to Pampers. We started with Swaddlers, then moved into Cruisers (we like them better than the BabyDry). I have tried others, and found they all leaked to some degree or another. Just because a brand costs less, doesn't mean you save money if you have to use more of them. You just have to find what works for your baby.

Pampers can be pricey, but if you watch for sales & coupons, they can wind up being less expensive than others. Also, keep in mind, that Walmart price matches. So, take a flyer for a local grocery store or something to Walmart and they will price match what is on the ad. For example, here, about every 2-3 months or so, Superfresh will run ads for the big boxes of Pampers Cruisers for $18.88, but limit purchases to 2 boxes. So, I buy 2 boxes there, using coupons & then take the flyer to Walmart and buy 2 boxes there, also using coupons. They generally last until there is another sale.

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."
