Actually, he didn't care at all about the cake. Now he wants a piece every now and then but yesterday, there was so much going on that he didn't eat at all I think.

@autumn: aww I bet Declan was happy to see his mommy! How did he do without you? Did he like Canada? Yes I am doing nursing, have to get my degree, I gave up on the headache of transferring my german degree over here. I am learning how to multiply 2x5 in my nursing math class right now. They must really think we are stupid in Germany.

How is your little guy doing? Did he recover well from his surgeries?

@Evi: awesome cake, Betty! roaaarrrrrr! :P

Vi, That is wonderful that your family did that for you! great pics!

Chnst, WHERE YA BEEN? No I cannot believe our boys and Declan are all rounding 1. Zaid is definitly transitioning to a toddler. Today we went to buy 18 month pajamas, he is so darn tall. We went grocery shopping and its so sad not buying baby foods anymore. It actually required thought this time. Cheerios, Applesauce, Pancakes, Pasta pick ups, Whole Bananas, Yogurt, Animal Crackers, he is eating everything under the sun. We are slowly planning his 1st birthday party. We are planning a backyard bbq and renting a dino jump and a water slide.. We are also buying him a Power Wheels Quad, its all so exciting! How is Ben? You gotta get some new pics up?? are u on facebook at all?

Autumn, Glad to hear your baby is back. I couldnt imagine how much you missed him., I think its wonderful that his dad took him for a whole week, Sofyan is a great dad but im 110% sure he would be going zonkerz after a week without me :) Get some pics of Declan up too!!!

Welcome to all the new moms and mommies to be. I know theres afew of ya with only a few weeks left!! Hopefully in the next 6 months or so, I will be expecting again. Im SOOOOO ready, hubby not so much, so we shall see. Hubby says 2 babies in day care is not practical financially, I say MEH, we will survive, lol

Hey ladies!

Hope y'all are well.

@ Eveline - love the cake! Sorry about the mayo. I almost died one day when I was at lunch @ the Olive Garden. A new mother with a 6 week old baby was giving the baby to ranch dressing off her finger. I thought I was going to be sick. I actually said something to her - I said, "I'm sorry, but the only thing that you need to give your baby right now is breast milk or formula - the stuff in industrial ranch dressing will make him sick." I almost died at the thought of all the ####### that is in those products all the MSG and stuff. OMG!!!!

@ Vi - what a super cool idea!!! Felicidades!

@ Nessa...good luck with the spreadsheet. That's a lot of research.

@ Kelly - I can't believe you want to do it allover again. Zaid's such a cutie, but I'm thinking I'm one and done. ;)

Chrissy, will you be breastfeeding? If so it might be much more practical for you to have the baby in a bassinet or pack n aplay for the first few months. Even if your not, I know Zaid slept much better in a bassinet in my room for a while. And it was a million times easier for me to bottle feed even. I would say to have Dylan try the bed, and if its not time, you will know, then he can continue in his crib for a while.

Staashi, I know im nuts. I really really miss "my baby" , you will see, they grow up waaay too fast. I think im gonna be one of those crazy ladies who has like 10 kids. No, but seriously. I definitly want 2 or 3 more, Sofyan does too. Its just a matter of getting to a more stable point in our life. We shall see. I have the kind of job where oprotunities to make more money is endless, so I keep saying, "oh when i get this promotion we will be much better off" and 3 promotions later, things seem the same. I guess life just kind of adapts to however much you make, which is why im not too concerned about having another baby, things always work out :)

We plan to use a bassinet/pack and play beside our bed in the beginning, and may put the changing table in our room also if it will fit. I don't know if we'll even have a regular crib for a while, although we will have a room just for the baby's things.

I've seen posts mentioning accessories, but does anyone have opinions on Ikea baby furniture? I've never bought any of their stuff, but there's a new store 1.5 hours from here, and I'm wondering if it's worth the trip to check it out.

@ Caybee: Ikea is cheap, decent, but not the best quality. But I think that's fine. If we hadn't gotten $1000 from DH's Abuelita for the crib & changing table, I would have bought Ikea stuff. Their baby towels are really soft and nice. And lots of decoration objects are really reasonably priced. Check their website and look at the baby stuff to determine whether you like the style or not.

Oh well, currently Jona sleeps in our bed with me and DH on the couch (he'd be with us, but he has his last exam tomorrow)... But the teething is getting better, he is slowly going back to old sleeping habits. BUt it's so much easier having him with me, when he wakes up crying cause of the pain, I pop the paci back in, give him a kiss on the forehead and talk to him and within 2 minutes he's back dreaming :)

So much to respond to!

Good luck to all of those who are due soon. Can't wait to see new baby pics :)

@ Eveline - Love the cake!

@ Vi - Love the pics of your shower. That is so sweet that your family did that. I will post pics of Declan in Canada, just have to find the time to download them.

@ Chnst - You are so impressive for going back to school with a little one. Do you have to do the entire coursework all over again or would the school accept any of the German classes? Hubby has considered becoming a nurse. I think he would be fantastic at it, but as he is still unemployed, he feels he needs to really focus on getting a job ASAP and cannot envision going back to school right now, so maybe in a couple of years. Declan is doing well. His surgeon from the diaphragmatic hernia repair said he has done so well, that she feels his pediatrician can do the year follow up instead of us having to drive down to CT. His ####### surgery also went well. We had 1 follow up and need to go back in August.

@ Kelly - I totally understand about wanting another baby. I was holding Declan yesterday as he drifted off to sleep and realized that he is so tall that his legs hang down so much and he is not a baby anymore. He is also in 18 month clothes primarily now. I love how active and fun he is, but I miss the cuddly little baby too. Initially, we had thought about trying for a baby when Declan was 1 year. With our finances, we had to reconsider, but hopefully we will be able to try when Declan is 1 1/2 years.

Declan did wonderfully in Canada and was spoiled by all of Ron's family! Ron said he traveled well too. He didn't even cry on takeoff or landing, which we had worried about (ear pain). He did drink a bottle on takeoff which we think helped. When I met them at the airport, it was so cute. Declan got a big grin on his face and couldn't get out of his stroller fast enough to have me hold him. He kept hugging me and squealing and bouncing with excitement. He also didn't want me to put him down and once when I asked Ron to hold him for a brief minute, he started crying and struggling to get back to me.

I will post new pics soon, I promise!

The only bad thing about the trip is that Declan's sleep is so messed up now. For one, he adjusted to West Coast time, plus he slept in the bed with Ron all week. And he is teething again now. So, he hates sleeping in his crib and, the past 2 nights, has been waking up crying every hour. Ugh! I can't wait until he gets back to a normal sleep schedule.

That was the impression I got. We're watching the budget pretty closely, and this will most likely be our only child. I've seen a few things on their website that I like and others I don't. I think it'll be worth the trip up there to look at things in person. I don't think we'll get the bassinet there, though. I found one I like, and we plan to move it around a lot, so I want something sturdy.

Next week is our 2nd trimester ultrasound, and we're hoping to find out the gender. The baby's room is already painted pale pink, which I'm not wild about, and I don't know if the landlord will let us paint. And the scan could be wrong. I may ask permission to paint the walls a very pale yellow or off-white just to be safe. Colors don't usually matter to me, and blue walls for a girl would be fine, but...

@Zaidsmommy no i wont be breastfeeding, but it still will be more convenient to bottle feed. even if we did use the crib it would have been in our room, but i think we will go for the pack and play as it takes less space, and Dylan wont feel kicked out of his bed
