I totally have to do my birthplan, my bag, register at the hospital, etc, etc, etc. :P It's probably a sign that I'm on the right path to being an unfit mother. I did at least get all my time donated to me for my 6 weeks of maternity leave. Thank God for that!

you can still have a birth plan about other things. mine mention things like episiotomy, about pain medication, epidural, having the baby in the room with me at all times (except for medical reasons), do not give pacifier to the baby, umbilical cord stop pulsating before it is cut, circumcision, i even mentioned morbid things like a DNR order, just in case :P etc

Morning, all! Sending good wishes to everyone, especially those who are almost to the finish line!

Thirteen days until the ultrasound for biology (and the quad screen, I think). I'm really looking forward to this one and hoping the placenta has migrated by then. No spotting for a week now -- hooray! -- and I'm getting a lot of twinges today, so I'm hopeful things are shifting. My ankles have puffed up. :help: Still wish baby would give me a few good kicks that I can feel. Even jumping up and down on my bladder would be very welcome, just a "Hello, everything's cool in here."

I've bought very little so far for the baby, just a penguin humidifier (needed one when hubby and I had a bad cold, so I went ahead and got an animal one) and a medicine dropper (since I was already in the pharmacy section). Strange supplies to start with. My sister is crocheting a white cotton afghan :luv: We've officially got five months left, but everything seems to be happening so fast. And if the placenta doesn't move, we could end up going in a month earlier. I don't really have the serious nesting drive yet, but I've taken longer than five months to plan a big trip, so I'm starting to get a little antsy. I'm also overrun with side work -- happy for the extra income but TIRED -- so when things slack off for me in April and hubby's overtime picks up, I'll start prioritizing my list.

Back to work! Hope everyone has a good day.

I'm the USC.

I had a birth plan with Adam..didn't do a thing. EVERYTHING went completely different as planned. I asked to walk around until active labor...well, I was induced and nothing went the way the birth plan suggested including the C/S that I absolutely wanted to avoid, they had to give Adam glucose which I didn't want, he had a paci a few hours after birth which I didn't want.

With allie my Doula wrote a birth plan for me and we talked it through. Again, things went differently and not as the plan suggested but I think the nurses respected things like 'no paci', 'no formula' only breastmilk more than at the military hospital.

The 'real world' here has patched up lots of fear I had for hospitals. THe military hospital was the first hospital I have ever been a patient in and they screwed a lot of things up "Lady, calm down, you're just having a baby" "I have to take the cervadil out, you just cost us 170 Dollars" "You know if we do a c/s you can die"...etc...Bad bad bedside manners, unfortunately. This hospital here where Allie was born in was a lot better. Everybody was nice and respectful.

Allie still doesn't want to eat. My Pediatrician gave me the thumbs up for not solid feeding yet. She said as long as Allie is thriving on breastmilk then she's fine. And with almost 20lbs she's apparently gaining enough wait.

It made sense to me. I know there are three or four accounts (maybe all the same person) who jump in and try to skew the polls, but I think the 29 is probably true for someone, especially if she was retaining a lot of water.

A friend of mine gained 50lbs during the birth of her son. She lost 20 lbs once the baby was born and amniotic fluid came out - the following week she lost 30lbs of water weight - she couldn't believe that she spent a whole week peeing out her retained water.

Nessa, sounds good - I'll have to think about that.

@ Kelly - sounds like me. hehehe
