Happy Birthday Adam!

KJandSH @ Your baby is so cute!! congratulations... ;)

Caro@ que linda tu barriguita! what a cute belly, I remember when my belly was around that size and I wanted it to look bigger, I was so impatient  I t was around the 4th-5th month that I started showing a little bit. You are gettin closer to the 2nd trimester no more morning -all day sickness!!!

Chrissy@ I'm feeling the same thing, I think those are the Braxton Hicks contractions, it happened to me a few times while I was walking from the train station to my job, the pain was horrible, I had to stop just to relax, calm down and breathe.

Just came back from the gym I checked my weight earlier and it's official I've gained 21 pounds in total since the beginning of my pregnancy and it seems that all the weight is in my belly (and my breast)......

Thank you! I'm looking forward to all that: having a bigger belly, feeling the baby kick

KJ - what a beautiful baby!

Chrissy - those BH Contractions kick my bootie everytime. I feel like I have to do lamaze-style breathing with them when they hit me.

Autumn - I know you'll miss Declan, but take this time for what it really is - a great big gift!

Caro - Que panzita linda!!!

Eveline - Happy Birthday, Adam!!!

Gracias! :)

Saludos,

Caro

@Vi: They cannot give you an estimate because they don't know what all you might need. You might come in 7cm dilated in full blown labor and have a baby 20 mintues later with no time for an IV, Pitocin, Episiotomy etc and be done OR you might be induced with cervadil (cost 170 bucks at the military hospital, the nurse kinda blamed me for using it and not dilating with adam...stupid biotch), Pitocin, a catheter, Stadol to make you sleep and maybe a c/s. Where natural birth might cost 2000 Dollars, the c/s might cost 25000 Dollars. There's such a big span, it's hard to make estimates.

my doctor said we don't have anymore u/s unless it's a high risk pregnancy or if they think there's something wrong like the baby isn't facing down, etc.

@ Chrissy: Usually they only do u/s later on if they suspect big babies (though they are mostly 2 pounds off in their estimates) or any concerns.

Hm Kaiser Permanente gave me the price for their average natural birth and average c-section. It is true that prices vary greatly depending on what happens, but they yet gave me averages.

DH's cousin just went to the hospital, her contrax are 2 mins apart and she is 4cm dilated... Hopefully she'll have no problems; her mom never dilated beyong 5cm, even after 48 hours of labor!

I have a good HMO and after the 9 months of doctor visits, the 2 days in the hospital, 2 epidurals(which never worked so i feel i shouldnt have been charged, lol) and your regular nursery fees, etc. I paid out of pocket about 575$ and that was some for the actual OB office and some for the hospital.

48 hours of labor is insane. i'll start having contractions, drive to the hospital and pop the kid, all in less than 2 hours.

I love that we had TRICARE (Humana Military) when both kids were born. With Adam (DH was active duty) I didn't pay anything (Adam was a c/s) and with Allie (vaginal, no drugs except pit to get everythig going) I paid 25 Dollars. DH was retired at that point, hence the change from TRICARE to Humana Military. I also had to pay 25 Dollars for the 'failed induction' two days before Allie was born but they actually waived that afterwards.

My husband had Aetna when we got pregnant originally...it would have been very costly that we would have accrued some major debt. Now, we have an HMO through my work - we'll just have to pay $250 to go to the hospital and that is everything.

Nessa your plan sounds great!!

I had irregular contractions for 4 days straight and dilated by myself at home to 6cm before i checked myself into the hospital only bc I was so tired. Even at 6cm I was still put on Pit and had hard labor for 11 hours. I spent over 2 hours pushing. I thought being 6cm meant things would be quick and boy was I wrong. My water never broke, and I never went into full fledged labor by myself. Im praying # 2 is much easier and perhaps a lil smaller than zaid was at 9lbs.

Did they ever break your waters? I went into full blown labor right after they broke my water with Adam and with Allie.
