Poor Zak and mom!!! Hope you guys both feel better soon Twila.

And hoping Sebas is better too.

Declan is finally better, but I came down with it now. This is such a miserable stomach bug with cramping, now I truly know how bad my poor baby felt!

@ Kel - What foods can and can't Zaid eat? My mom always makes "American chop suey" ... basically elbow macaroni, tomato sauce, diced celery and onion and ground beef. It is a favorite with Declan and he can eat it for days. Sometimes I add carrots to the concoction so he has more veggies.

Stef - Wow, I didn't know that about Motrin. Thanks for the info!

Wishing all the sicky babies a speedy recovery! it's sad to hear they are sick :(

I have a problem thinking up a boy name that sounds good in both english and Thai.. not so easy. he's also kicking me a lot today.. not so hard yet but my friend said, wait till later and it'll hurt.. is that true?

I loved the kicks -- miss them now actually, though I get plenty from the outside

I missed them for quite some time after I had the twins. :(

AFU: It's officially roseola. Zak broke out with the rash about 1pm today. At our 3pm appt, his temp was still 103.7. If he still has a fever tomorrow, they want to see him to make sure a secondary infection has not set in because the rash is supposed to appear AFTER the fever has broken. I also asked about Hana and his opinion is that if she hasn't gotten it yet, she probably will not.

autum: Motrin can mess with your kidney function, if you look at the BUN/creatinine and other kidney labs of people who have taken ibuprofen for a while, a lot of them show some big alterations in their levels. Same goes for Tylenol and liver function. I guess you have to be careful with any medication. But a lot of people think because its OTC, it can't hurt ya. Ibuprofen works definitely better for a fever that won't break with Tylenol (most of the time) but I wold make sure that the baby (or you) is peeing alright.

@Twila: ha! Hope the fever goes down soon. sounds like you have a pretty good pediatrician. Hope he will get better soon. Glad he is peeing and drinking. And these lab people are really frustrating. I was surprised how they could just overrule a written doctors order for a stat draw, especially on a pediatric patient.

hope everyone is getting better soon!!

@Kelly: I always keep pasta ready. Lets say I make pasta on sunday, I make extra and put them in ziploc bags in the fridge and then just microwave them with some frozen veggies and pasta sauce for lunch throughout the week. He likes any kind of pasta, and he could care less if I make that every day. I can always smuggle healthy stuff in there like tuna, veggies etc. Ben loves veggie dumplings, I bought them at wholefoods and they only need 5 minutes of frying, these are a great quick lunch too. Or plain old turkey/cheese sandwich.

I also make soup about 1x/week he loves lentils or chicken noodle and I either freeze the leftover or lave them in the fridge. He loves fruit too, and eats it in stages- right now he has to eat yogurt "logeet" with bluberries "looblerries" every day. last month it was bananas, or strawberries etc. It changes every 5 minutes. haha.

Another trick: I didn't know how much stuff you can mix into mashed potatoes if you have a picky eater (and a husband who never eats veggies :bonk: ) I mashed it with cauliflower and didn't mention it to them and they loved it. heheeeeeehheeee

Zaid thankfully will eat most veggies (except for green beans) and all fruits. I guess I just feel like he needs a full meal when he actually probably doesnt. I like for him to have variety but find myself always cooking the same things. I guess with time I will figure it out... the biggest problem we have is he gets hives from black pepper and we pepper almost everything we eat, so im always making an extra pot of whatever it is thats pepperless. lol

Thats cute that Ben says Logeet for Yogurt. The babysitter tells me everyday that she knows Zaid is speaking arabic to her and she just wishes she knew what he was saying lol. (his vocab is about 50% english 50% arabic right now) Some of the cute things Zaid mispronounces is "Beeeeelay" for "blanket" "nake" for "snake" and "aneena" for "banana" lol He has a couple nerf guns and he calls them "ithneenee" which means "two" in arabic. I guess bc everytime hubby would shoot the gun he would say "1,2,3" in arabic so Zaid started calling it that one day and it stuck.

IDK why but Ive been soooo weepy lately. The fact that in 3 short months my baby is gonna be 2 just terrifies me. I am not ready for him to be this big. I find myself wanting to kiss him all day lately. He says something or does something and i literally melt. I have never been so proud in my life. He really is the sweetest boy.

Twila: I think you are safe, his temps hover around the same mark and isn't raising over 104. I would just make sure to give him plenty of fluids, vitamins a,c and d (they really help me too when I feel sick). The only thing that I gave Jona when he ran his 103 fever (that's when I had piggy flu) was homeopathic belladonna. It's a fever reducer without side effect (worst case it doesn't work, that's a bout the worst side effect). His fever went away completely after a couple hours. He never showed any symptoms but fever and sleepiness with lots of nursing.

@ Caro: I hope he feels better soon. I don't think it's WP cause you would hear the classic whooping sound... And ear infections aren't typical with it, so my guess is evil other bacteria. But let us know what the swab says. I hope he feels better soon, and I would do the vitamin supplementation (there is liquid stuff for babies) and since you nurse, you can take larger doses of those vitamins as well, they will be in your milk.

got the results today, it was negative yay! :)

what scared me was that the coughing episodes would last a long time, he would get really red and at the end he would not make a woo sound but it sounded more like he was choking.

He's on antibiotics, and an expectorant and is doing much better :)

Yay! No more fever today for Zak! He has the rash, and drum roll please, SO DOES HANA! You would have never known she didn't feel well. At least we are done with this.

Congrats about no whooping cough too!

Hopefully all the babies are on the mend.

ha! girls are just so much tougher! :P

@Kelly: wow yeah just 3 more months. My MIL asked me yesterday what we want them to get for Ben's birthday. I was like "What? He just turned 1!!" He is getting so big! I really love this stage. Every time I think he can't get any cuter than this he does something new and I'm sooo in love with him! He is starting to put sentences together like "where are you?" "listen to daddy" (he says "listen Daddy") " I lob you Mommy" (love)

I'm so glad all the sick babies are getting better.

Here is when you know you need a break: The other day I had a million things on my to-do list and I had to run to the post office. I was running around getting Eman ready and went to get his jacket. As I was putting it on, Eman starts cracking up and I could not figure out what was so funny. As I put his arm through the other sleeve, I see why he is laughing....I was putting MY jacket on HIM. We both started hysterically laughing and I just could not believe I had done that.:blush::lol:

Sebas had a couple of exciting days

Yesterday he had his 4 months well baby checkup. he weighs 17 lbs (90%), height 25" (50%) and is doing great

He had his 2nd round of shots and did amazingly well!! that emla cream is awesome!! :star:

And today...he sat unassisted!!! I was so excited!! and he had his first taste of rice cereal. And by taste I mean wore most of it. He loved it though! he was reaching for the spoon and opening his mouth wide, and then when he had the spoon in his mouth he kept making weird faces. The pedi explained that the first weeks are just for him to learn how to eat, what to do with his tongue and so on, so I'm not worried. It was actually fun

I'm so glad all the sick babies are getting better.

Well Zaids pics were a success (see below lol) and he really made me proud. I was in a good mood all day until I came home to file my taxes. All I can say is screw the US government. Just bc hubby and I make some decent money we are getting nearly NOTHING back yet my single jobless neighbor with a baby is getting 5200$ FRIGGIN RIDICULOUS....

Ok...thats my rant for the day...

Moving on!

Glad to hear Sebas is doing well!
