I tell the first person in my family today. We are waiting to tell everyone until past the first tri, and had the amnio and everything is OK, but my sister and her boyfriend will be here today to visit. The second I do not have a drink when we go out tonight, my sister will know. So going to tell her before we hit the bar. And swear her to secrecy. She's going to be so excited! I'm the youngest in my family, her and my other sister's kids are all grown, most with kids of their own.

Good luck! Did you already have an ultrasound? were they able to hear the heartbeat? that is a big milestone, once they have a heartbeat the chances of something going wrong drops dramatically :)

Saludos,

Caro

Hey, people of the Big Baby Thread! Staashi forced us Canadians to participate here so here I am. :jest:

Today is our spawn's first birthday and the nice mom that I am I scheduled his one year check up for today as well. He's 18 lbs 11 oz, meaning he is in the TOP 3-4% for weight! Hahahah...well, he's healthy and happy. Just genetically on the thinner side!

I know there is a pair of twins on this forum so happy birthday, twins! :luv:

Yup...Hana and Zak's first birthday was today too! We are having their party on Saturday. I just spent some extra time with them tonight, fed them their favorites (chicken and sweet potatoes) and bought a small slice of cake that I split between them (and they LOVED it...Hana loved it a little too much...it was all OVER her face!).

We have had a BIG week. Besides their first birthday, my husband got sworn in as a US citizen yesterday!!!! We are officially DONE with USCIS! The twins LOVED waving their little flags along with everyone else, even if Mom and Dad were crying a little bit. (I don't think you guys will realize how emotional you will be until you are sitting there and thinking of all that you have gone through to get to this point.) We also went yesterday afternoon and got their 1 yr pics done. I'll update my sig with a few in a couple of minutes. So...we have started off 2010 in an awesome way!

Happy Birthday to J and B's spawn as well! (Ours have their one year appt on Monday. I'll have to post stats. Last time they went for the flu shot in November they were 21 pounds each. I know they are heavier than that now because the past week or so I can't carry the both of them up the stairs to our condo at the same time! I am more curious how tall Hana is. In October she was 31 inches tall -- way off the charts. Zak was 29.5 inches. So...we have tall, lean babies.)

Twila, congrats on the citizenship and the birthdays! What an emotional rollercoaster this week. Yes, when I saw hubby become a USC I was in tears of joy, relief, bittersweet moments. Man, good times. Good times.

Bland cheerios, yes, from Annie's or Cascadian Farms (really cheap at the commissary). He of course didn't eat them til later, but those are suitable (you wanna avoid flavored or sugary stuff). Happy Babies makes good puffs too (Target, $2.99 per container). Jona still won't touch veggies or fruits as fingerfoods... Fruits must be mushed up, veggies will be eaten if hidden within rice, pasta or mashed potatoes.

Nessa: He might do that on purpose, like gagging it up, Jona does that with new consistencies and when he doesn't want it.

For anyone who's interested in a read about pregnancy and vitamin D levels, I found this wonderful study here: http://www.cmaj.ca/cgi/content/full/174/9/1287

Yeah try that. Sometimes they just don't like the size or the new sensation. I still cut things in about pea size. Pasta he will eat as is, and only lasagna he takes in big pieces and bites of by himself...
